Please share!

Hi all! Four years ago, my helper of 17yrs had a stroke and subsequently, she returned to the Philippines.
Was left with a bill of over $20-25k, but her insurance only covered $15k. I submitted the claims but haven’t heard back from the hospital or insurance company all these years later since 2022. The insurance company essentially ghosted me so I really don’t know if my claim was successful as well. Can I assume the case has been “written off”? (for lack of a better term)
I hope this won’t come back to haunt me. My son said it’s pretty common practice in the US for this to happen and they won’t claw back the outstanding fees, but I’m not taking chances. Since then, I’ve opted for the highest insurance coverage for my current helper, instead of the very basic plan. Yet I find myself living in uncertainty with this at the back of my mind.
For anyone who’s had domestic helpers who’ve had accidents or fallen critically sick, have you any experiences to share when making claims?

Every treatment was 45mins, thereafter the house had to be vacated for 2-3hrs after treatment. The warranty was for 4mths after all sessions. Session (ie., every visit down means there is no live bug activity or bites thereafter). I did mine with Jet Solutions. Yup, not endorsing them either but they were a godsend!

I’m seeking holiday cleaning tips and hacks to make tidying up easier and more enjoyable. Additionally, considering my busy schedule, I may hire professional cleaners in Singapore for a pre-holiday deep clean. Any recommendations for reliable cleaning services?

You’re right, I also feel that with some of the bigger agencies, the focus can lean more towards sales targets rather than really understanding what families need, and that can sometimes affect the quality of the match.
After going through a few options myself, I ended up hiring my current helper through EELIT Agency, and the experience was very different. They took the time to understand my household’s needs, were attentive throughout the process, and the helper they matched me with has been a great fit so far.
It really makes a difference when an agency prioritises service quality and long term fit over just numbers

She has worked for me for almost 6 years, completing her third contract in Dec.
She has a pleasant disposition, soft spoken, able to work independently, does not steal. Able to do simple Chinese meals.
She did general household chores in my house, and helped the other helper look after my demented mother in law, who has recently passed away.
She is Indonesian, a Christian, and is single, 35 yrs old, small sized. Able to handle dogs!
Her salary is currently $840, with 1- 2 weekends off. Extra $30 to compensate for each weekend not worked. This is for working in a landed property, looking after 2 dogs, and a person with advanced dementia.
If you are interested, please contact me and I will arrange for you to interview her. She is available for transfer immediately.
Pl drop me a msg at +65 8764 8157 and I will reply in the evenings.

I came across HA Furniture Singapore recently while looking for some kids’ furniture. They’ve got a lot of options like bunk beds, study desks, and chairs.
I’m thinking of getting a desk and chair set for a small study area at home, but before I make any decisions, I wanted to see if anyone here has any experience with them.
How’s the quality, and is the delivery process smooth? Any feedback would be really helpful!
Thanks in advance!

I have a domestic helper who worked for me for the past 16 years old. As my kids are all grown-up (youngest 16yo) and they are either working or in school for whole day, I do not see a need for a live-in helper now.
I read in some website that I need to give at least 1 month notice and also pay her some severance payment on top of her salary which I have planned to do so and also refererence letter in case she wants to find another employer (quite difficult cos she is 55yo this year).
I want to seek advise on how to inform her on this termination which doesnt make things ugly for both parties. And upon informing her 1 month in advance, let’s say beginning of Jan and I should buy a ticket for her by beginning of Feb or what?
Please share your experience. Thanks
