As we prepare our children for the upcoming PSLE changes, I wanted to share a resource that can help bring clarity and confidence to their writing revision.
With the shift to the 2026 English Syllabus (Subject Code 0001), the marking structure for Paper 1 has been updated to 50 marks. There is also a greater emphasis on “Inference” in Situational Writing—encouraging students to generate their own unique ideas rather than just using the text provided.
To help you navigate these changes, I have developed PSLE Marker Pro, an AI companion designed to provide detailed, syllabus-aligned feedback. It acts like a supportive HOD, offering specific “From X to Y” vocabulary suggestions to elevate your child’s writing instantly.
I would love to gift you a Complimentary Diagnostic Report (Worth $15).
I am personally onboarding a small group of parents to try this out. Since this is a private trial, I will need to manually add the credit to your account.
Here is how to get started:
1 Open the Telegram Bot here: https://t.me/PSLE_Marker_Pro_Bot
2. Tap “Start” and click the consent button.
3 The bot will generate a Parent ID for you (e.g., 12345678).
4 Simply email ml1978acc@gmail.com with that ID.
Once I receive your ID, I will add the credit to your account so you can upload an essay and see the feedback firsthand.
Here’s to your child’s success!
regards,
PSLE Marker Pro Team.[image: 1770731464415-banner.png] [image: 1770731471347-banner1.png] [image: 1770731471373-banner2.png]

(Critical 2026 Update)

[image: 1772634166395-screenshot-2026-03-04-222222.png]
Hi fellow parents,
I wanted to highlight a “silent killer” in the new SEAB 2026 English Syllabus (Subject Code 0001) that many of us might be missing.
We know the paper weighting has dropped from 55 to 50 marks , but the real danger isn’t the lost 5 marks—it’s the “Tone Trap” in Situational Writing.
Under the new 14-mark format, students can get all 6 content points correct but still score an AL 4 equivalent. Why? Because if they use the wrong Purpose, Audience, or Context (PAC)—like writing “Hi Mr. Tan” instead of “Dear Mr. Tan”—they get heavily penalized for Tone.
I’ve put together a short audio guide that breaks down exactly how to spot this “Tone Trap” and the new “Inference” requirement. It’s a quick listen for the commute:
Listen to the Guide Here: https://open.spotify.com/episode/41fVTq7LEPfBD7K43vIeJ6
For those who want to test their child’s actual essay:
I have also built an AI tool that acts as a strict “Senior HOD” to mark essays based on this new 2026 rubric. It checks for the “Inference Point” and Tone issues automatically.
You can try a Free Diagnostic (no credit card needed) via Telegram here: https://t.me/PSLE_Marker_Pro_Bot
Hope this saves some marks!

I enrolled my 11-year-old son around July last year. Early on, I noticed that the centre frequently encouraged parents to make advance payments for one or two terms, often framing complimentary lessons as incentives. While this may seem generous, it felt more like a strategy to secure upfront commitment.
My son is a keen learner and generally enjoys academic work. However, his feedback about the lessons was consistently negative. He shared that lessons focused heavily on memorising “nice phrases,” that composition openings were written for him and he was expected to follow them regardless of his own ideas, and that he was instructed to include specific phrases in his compositions. He found this restrictive and felt unsupported in developing and expressing his own thoughts. Over time, he felt the lessons were a waste of time.
When I decided to withdraw him, the communication process was extremely frustrating. Administrative responses felt templated and mechanical, and my questions about the notice period were not clearly addressed.
Despite fulfilling a one-month notice, the centre refused to refund our deposit, stating that we had a “suspended” lesson and therefore did not meet the requirement of “four lessons’ notice.” We were told we needed to pay for an additional four lessons to qualify. After I escalated the issue, an alternative was offered: to pay for one more lesson in order to recover my $120 deposit.
It is worth noting that lessons continued through school holidays. We had to suspend one lesson due to travel, which required an online application and an additional fee of $16.35.
Overall, this experience left a very poor impression — not only in terms of teaching pedagogy, but also due to the lack of administrative clarity and what felt like a strong emphasis on profit over genuine educational quality. This was extremely disappointing for a centre positioned as a writing enrichment programme. Insisting on further payment despite the poor quality of teaching felt unreasonable and further made the whole experience worst.
