I agree the compre are very difficult. I see sometumes they ask questions like why do you think… or how you feel about… To those who are weak in MT, understanding and finding the answers are not easy already, not to mention about such questions. Haiz…

the last Q is "ask your opinion"(.如果…认为?) normally is to test the reader understanding based on the overall story,specific character in the story or moral(道理) of story.


this question will be easy to answer for those who read a lot.

to tackle this question,i get him to understand some basic characteristics of people,for e.g. strength(kind),weakness(selfishness).I oso bot him a book on 弟子规.Hopefully,he is able to "see" , relate,when he reads thru the passage.

since he doesn’t hv interests in reading storybooks,i choose short story(1 or 2 pages) from 知识报 n read to him…esp those stories which come wf "moral" or "lesson" learnt at end of story.

I read the comprehension with ds together. Explain the passage to him before he answers the questions, to boast his confidence. It was very difficult initially as he refused to cooperate. I also try to choose interesting passage for him to do, if not he won’t be interested. All these are very time consuming and needs tons of patient.


I can see that he is trying very hard on his own now.

yes,very time consuming. For us,is mentally drained…


Sometx, i understand the words or story,but i find it difficult to explain.After i explain,i still hv to find ways to relate it back to the questions.

p4 to p5 is a BIG jump…all the subject difficulty levels drop to 1.8m from 0.9m…this kind of drop is very drastic and stressful.

They will pick up by the end of the year, I hope.


I think the drop won’t be so drastic if they are consistent in their revision and work.

If fraction is strong then can manage ratio,percentage all similar concept as fraction.Generally the P5 maths is difficult to compare with P4.My son can do the qns with direct concept testing,but he and me struggled with some qns to figure out in top school papers.In P5, there are 18 problem sum qns.the last 6 qns (4,5 marks) are very difficult.
