It depends on the child. I have 2 daughters - one is in RGS and enjoying it, even though she is busy and there's lots of schoolwork plus other stuff going on. She works fast and independently, enjoys the variety, and copes OK with the workload even though she does get tired by the end of the day. But she calls it \"happy\" busy! I can't imagine my other one surviving in this environment as she learns and works more slowly, needs more hand-holding and doesn't cope well with pressure, so we have chosen a very different route for her. So you really need to assess your child's personality and ability. If she is an eager and independent learner, has high energy levels, likes challenge, variety and being busy, RGS would probably be a good fit.

Hi! I have an idea of choosing rgs for my daughter. her cut off is 262. She likes science and maths. She has an interest to pursue career in engineering. Is it possible for that when she finishes Ip in RGS. In RGS curriculum I can see maths, Physics, Chemistry, biology. Will Rgs students have Maths and science each year, or will they have that subject only once. I browsed through the web site and got confused with raffles academy and other programs.

Will all the children study the same subjects. If not, are they free to choose the subjects for them or will the subjects be offered to them on merit basis. pls help me with this as soon as possible. If possible please give me the list of subjects they will be studying in years 1, 2 3 and 4.
She didn’t take DSA tests. So she can’t go for NUS high school or Singapore School of science and technology.Thanks

The school builds the girls up towards the A levels at the end of 6 years. Along the way, the school will support the interest of the student to the extent that the child is able to handle. Raffles Academy is an accelerated program designed to cater to the high achiever.

RGS leads to RI in Yrs 5 & 6 when students take 'A' levels like all other kids in JC. The subjects in RGS are pretty much like in any sec school and definitely include Maths and Science. All students study the same subjects in Yrs 1 & 2, then get to drop some and choose some in Yrs 3 & 4 (most get their choices, I understand). In Yrs 3 & 4, 2 languages, 2 maths, 1 science (choice of Phy/Chem/Bio) and 1 humanities (choice of Lit/Hist/Geog) are compulsory, and students choose more sciences or humanities depending on interest and aptitude. Raffles Academy is a special programme for students in Yrs 3 & 4 who want to do more in a particular subject, and that will require fulfilling some additional criteria. Not all students can or want to do that. Hope that answers your questions.
