There are 3 main opportunities, the junior student exchange programme, overseas student academic programme and the student exchange programme. They are all partially subsidised. The duration for student exchange programmes are usually around a week, the OSAP is around 2 weeks. The location varies for the programmes.

There are also other opportunities such as oversea competition or conferences.

There's also the research focused Da Vinci programme
        .
is Da Vinci a Visual Arts drawing programme, or Physics Science research programme in Y5, Y6 ?

do it in campus, or attachment overseas ?

Da Vinci is also a great inventor. The programme is multi year and tries to impart research and related skills (such as problem solving) to the students.

Students by and large stay within Singapore for their research projects, either within the school or working with other organisations such as NUS or A*STAR.

From Jan to Sept each year, students under the cultural-scientific exchange program from a number of High schools from Australia, Europe eg Germany, Asia eg Korea, Japan, Taiwan China, and Asean countries visited NUSH for week long NUSH hostel stay.

The Japanese students, in particular, from Ritsuimeikan High School (part of private Ritsumeikan University in Kyoto) normally request for home-cum hostel-stay in Singapore as part of their cultural exchange program in August. In return Y3/Y4 students of Japanese class normally return their full-week home-stay in Kyoto with their counterpart in February the following year. Students need not pay anything as the balance can be paid via Edusave fund.

To my knowledge, the junior exchange program is not specifically designed only for students taking 3rd language. For example, I have not heard of NUSH french class doing any cultural visit.

However, student taking any junior exchange program will not be further subsidized by the school if they were to do future student exchange program at Y5/Y6. Of course this is not inclusive of the OSAP or any other field trips sponsored by the school eg. competitions and conferences.

I heard those taking German have study trips to Germany during their secondary years.

Beside NUSH OSAP, year 5 students can also apply for the MOE OSAP. This year there are 4 programmes.

1, International Summer School for Young Physicists (ISSYP) 2 weeks at Perimeter Institute, Ontario Canada.

2, London International Youth Science forum (LIYSF) 2 weeks at Imperial College, London.

3, International Science Camp, 3 weeks at XLAB, Gottingen Germany.

4, Centre for Education Excellence Research Science Institute porgram, 6 weeks at MIT Boston USA.

All programmes fully sponsored and places are limited. Programmes details can be found in the internet.

Hi… would appreciate if any existing parent or student can advise on the number of sets of uniform we need to buy? What do Sec 1 boys need to wear? And for PE attire, how many sets needed?

We received the email from the school about the matriculation day. I was hoping to buy the uniform before the school reporting day so to avoid possible long queues.

                      Thanks!!
