Quite good. Beware of very restrictive terms. Probably no date change and no refund type.SQ open jaw tickets about $700. Flying in Dec. Is this a good deal ?

Hi,
Below are our draft itineraries. This is our first trip to Japan and we’re confused with the different type of pass. Based on our itineraries, which pass should we buy ?

I'm not sure if the transport you will be taking in Osaka is covered by JR. But the bus from Kanazawa to Shirakawago, the express electric train from Nagano to Yudanaka, and the tourist bus in Kanazawa are not by JR. So whether u have the pass or not, you need to pay separately for these. The only way to know if JR pass is worth it is for you to check all the buses and trains you plan to take to see which are part of JR and add up the cost, then compare it with the cost of the pass you plan to buy. Very tedious, but no other way. If the pass cost is just slightly more expensive, I still recommend it for it's convenience. I notice your trip is quite long. So you can get the 7 day pass and only use for part of your trip, the part with the most expensive trains, or buy for the whole trip if the cost justifies.Hi,

Starlight,
Did you explore all the sights on the island? How much time do you need for that?
:thankyou: -

During my recent trip, I had about half a day at Miyajima only because I went to visit the Mazda Factory Plant just a few train stops away from Miyajima.starlight1968sg:

This is obviously not enough but gives me reasons to revisit there.
I took the ropeway up and down (forget about hiking unless you are well trained) to Mt Misen.
I ate the oysters and \"fed the deer\"
