SCGS is under those schools which do not take in PV. Check here \"List of Pri Schools Do Not Accept PV Application\" http://www.kiasuparents.com/kiasu/forum/viewtopic.php?t=3232&start=0

Just received an email reply from St Hilda's. PV application got rejected. After a long pursuit and anxious waiting, just a plain email saying that our application was unsuccessful!

            what should i do now?

            1. Wait and see if they open for balloting? The seats for 2012 P1 have shrunk tremendously! Chance is slim, I think...

            2. Try to other schools? My next choices are Gong Shang or St Anthony's Canossian. Need to do PV?
For St Hilda's, I believe they will cut classes for 2012 in take since they are aiming to go for single session, so 2012 seats are ard 240 or 210 seats. They are cutting 1 class for 2011 intake (from 300 to 270 seats) this year.

For Gong Shang - you would need to submit your PV form as soon as possible, as for St Anthony's Cannosian - so far understand no PV is required (however I might be wrong since the HOT HOT schools are cutting classes, so the next HOT school might be HOT soon)

Schools are cutting down classes to gear ahead for single session…parents of children in Phase 2C will be more stressed. Starting from this year, children of S’pore Citizens will go for 2 balloting slips.

I guess the other reason why schools are cutting down classes is because there is a drop in birth rate.

End of day, if by the registration time cannot clock, you cannot register under Phase 2B. Years back, friend of mine couldn't clock enough time for Nan Hua, end up had to look somewhere else.

So encourage those pvs to either get a regular duty....or work super hard in the initial months to make sure they can clock enough time.

will the school ‘help’ u to clock the hrs? i mean will they ask for ur ‘service’ as n when? if there r quite a few PV, then how can everyone be able to reach the ‘quota’? even though i wan to ‘help out’ everyday, the school might not have work for me to do…

Mine allocated standardised hours...traffic warden. 2 times (1hour each) a week, 40 weeks = 80 hours in a year...no more no less

I think this depends on the person in charge of assigning work.

For those more established schools (ie pv program running for quite some time), they will be in a good place to gauge the approximate places and therefore accept x number of pvs (herein lies another problem - the pv selection process), and give them adequate amount of work.

I have heard of a couple of schools that indiscriminately accept pvs....and then pvs find they cannot get enough work.

Best strategy is always to start early and start strong. Then you can saunter your way to the finish line. If you only start a the cutoff point, it could be a desperate dash to the end.
