All About Maid's passport renewal

Seriously the first thing that came to my mind was.... is your maid trying to make frequent trips to the embassy so that she can while her time chit chatting with other maids???I wonder if any of you have renewed your Indonesian FDW's passport recently? My maid has been there 3 times this week. First visit, she didn't bring ANY documentation and spent half a day there. Second visit, she went too late and was told to go home (another 4 - 5 hrs)... Third visit, she finally managed to submit her application (10am till 4pm!) and she came back with a collection slip. This slip says either one of these could collect the passport for FDW - the said FDW, the employer, or someone staying with the employer.
However, my maid insisted that she was told that the employer must go for interview (again!) and sign a new contract. We already signed the contract at the embassy (less than a year ago!)... and now supposed to sign again (to get new passport)... and supposedly sign yet again in November when the actual WP is renewed? :scratchhead: :scratchhead:
I mean, seriously??? :slapshead: :slapshead:
I've done the renewal for my maids at least twice and even went down before to do the contract for the KTKLN card as maid was going back on home leave.
I personally feel that some of the \"time there\" could have been avoided. Eg. find out the exact requirements online, eg. forms, documents, etc... be there when the embassy opens, have her pic taken, things can actually be settled within the morning. I recalled doing it within 2-3 hours (including submission and contract). For contracts, employer need to be with them to sign off.
For WP, it can be renewed online. I recalled doing the collection at Tanjong pagar area on saturday morning and apparently the queue was fast. -
Amazingly, their email listed on their website bounced back when I sent an email to them.

To update, my maid managed to collect her passport on Friday by herself. I cannot be bothered to ask how long it takes anymore. The slip says collection from 3pm to 5pm. To make it simple, I even arranged to have dinner outside so that she won’t need to rush back to cook. And in return, this is what I get:
On Saturday night, she told me "Mam, tomorrow I go out" (offday). Usually her off day is once a month (because she doesn’t want to waste money on off-days), and usually taken on the 3rd weekend of the month. However, she went for her offday in April, then 10 days of paid home leave (while we were on holiday)… and 4 days at the embassy this week… and then to top it all up a last minute notice for going out? I asked her why and what is it that she needed to do that she couldn’t do in the 4 days that she was out. Her reply "then I don’t go". Then sulked all weekend. Then cooked cup noodles for all our lunch on sunday… duh… -

Sigh, I got upset when I found out that PHL embassy is now on a 5days week. Well ok, good news for the staffs there but bad news for employers here.To update, my maid managed to collect her passport on Friday by herself. I cannot be bothered to ask how long it takes anymore. Everything now has to take appointment online, go one day submit form, come back another day to collect. When she needs to do exit pass, the cycle repeats. I have to take leaves to take care of my kids so that she can go embassy. This is not all, home leave and exit pass needs $$. Go back holiday also must apply exit pass and pay. One pass one holiday. My helper said she was \"forced\" to make donation too. So each time she makes exit pass, she has to donate..hmmm -

Hi all,
My Filipino maid with us only 3 months. She needs to renew her passport soon. I hired her without agency. I download the employment contract from MOM site and we signed it. On the Filipino embassy website I found, that the employment contract need to be verified. Please let me know,
- what is procedure for the employment contract verification?
- is it possible to do it same day with passport renewal appointment?
- how expensive is that?
- who needs to pay passport renewal fee? An employer or a maid?
- do I need to be in the embassy for the contract verification?
Thank you -

I have the same question in mind... anyone has the answers?Hi, if my Filipino helper's passport is expiring in June next year and wants to go home for good, can she still work all the way till May/June? Does she really need 6 months validity to go back to Philippines?
Thanks -

Don't need 6 days validity, not to mention 6 mths.
You need 6 mths validity to enter a FOREIGN land. -
