HI , may I know do NUSH students need / take up tuitions? Should I just let my child learn from the school teacher ( year 1) ? Does teacher give extra coaching to individual student if he/ she can't cope? Thanks

I wish to know more about the culture of this school šŸ™‚

Teachers do give extra coaching to individuals as and when necessary.

Most tuitions take up by NUSH students, if at all, are mother tongue I think. A few do take up maths/science tuition, but they usually need to take tuition that are a level or two higher.

Except for mother tongue, I doubt there are any group tuitions available for the other subjects. If you really need tuition for your child, you will need to look for individual tutor who will teach the particular topic that need revision or extra coaching.

My boys have tuition only for MT. I think it's hard to find tuition centres that can provide help as the syllabus is different from the norm. The school has its own lecture notes, they don't use normal A or O level textbooks.

My boys told me for weaker students, the teachers will provide remedial. For students who show potential, the school will also provide extra coaching.

            Hope this helps. šŸ˜‰

Thanks Artume, scm292, dagong99 for the advice.

              1. So means tuition centre classes are not suitable as the NUSH syllabus are different?
Or as Artume mentioned, got to take 1-2 level up?
              2. Normal O level / A level assessment books help? Does NUSH use text books?
              3. Only HCL/ CL follow mainstream syllabus? which still can take up tuition ctr class tuiton?

Does your dd require tuition for math and science in primary school?

If the child cannot understand the NUSH notes well, here is where the tutor can come in to help explain.

The O and A level assessment books can help, because most of the topics covered are similar.
There are some recommended text books from NUSH for Physics and Biology.

HCL does not seem to follow mainstream in Y1 and Y2. But HCL/CL tuition can still help because eventually the child still has to take O level and maybe A level.

I need advice from parents whose kids have started to take NUS modules.

If NUS charges $636 for each module, is this amount inclusive the subsidy of $576 if the child is able to meet the min A- score ? If so, what if the child fails to meet A- ? Repay the difference ? TIA.

The subsidy will be paid after results are released, the $636 is paid up front.

As for the timetable, if the NUSH modules clash with NUS module, will NUSH \"accommodate\" NUS timetable ? DS timetable is almost full till 6 pm everyday. Thanks.
