2010 P1 Registration Exercise for 2011 In-Take

Lionel Ong:
(1) Near the start of the registration exercise, MOE will announce all the dates for the various phases. Not sure about Pei Hwa's practise, for other school, normally there will be a letter sent to the parents informing them of the eligibility and parents are to produce this letter during registration.Dear Kiasu Parents Forumers / Kiasu Chief,
My Daughter will be registering for P1 this year for 2011. Hope to hear about some opinions from some experienced parents/admin here:
1) When do we get notified by MOE that Phase 2B had commenced? My Presbyterian Church had already submitted my application to Pei Hwa Presbyterian Primary School last year November 2009. Pei Hwa had acknowledged receipt. Do we expect a call from the school? Or do we still need to personally go to the school for the application?
2) I stay slightly out of 2km from the vicinity of Pei Hwa Presbyterian Primary. I am staying at Shelford Road which is within 1km vicinity of Nanyang Primary and Raffles Girls Primary School. Is it advisable that i withdraw my application from Pei Hwa Presbyterian Primary at Phase 2B (should I get the school) and register for Nanyang Primary School at Phase 2C? (As my wife and I do prefer Nanyang due to affliation to Nanyang Girls High). I had read from some of the thread that we could \"monitor\" the situation and if Nanyang does not have balloting for this year, I can withdraw from Pei Hwa and apply for Nanyang. How do I do this and What is the time frame to do this?
Hope some one can share some light on this.
Thank you so much in advance.
(2) Some schools will periodically update the current registration status on a noticeboard at the registration centre, some schools will publish this info on their website, etc .. The Best option is to have one spouse at each each in the last hour of the last day of registration. The one at Nanyang to check the resgistration status and then decide whether to register. And the other at Pei Hwa to withdraw earlier registration if necessary.
Good Luck ! -

your girl is not eligible for Phase 2A2 for St Nicks, if you are only ex-student of secondary school and not primary school.
Not true.
My DS got into my school (I was there only in Sec) under 2A2.
@ImMeeMee
Certitficate I think should be ok. Check the MOE website for all documents required and if needed, call SNG. -
Lionel Ong:
You must ensure your girl's PSLE score (from NYPS) is minimum 250 in order to feed into NYGH. There is still 6 more years to go and school policy may change.Dear Kiasu Parents Forumers / Kiasu Chief,

Careful for NGH affiliation with NPS. To qualify, your wife (from NGH) must be born certain year and before, you better call NGH to check. Someone I know has checked this before but I cannot remember it is born before which year.
If you have no affiliation to NGH and RGPS, you will be 2C unless you are PV (2B).
If you are not under 2B PV at NGH and RGPS, why not just go for PHPPS at 2B. Wait till last day of 2C, you see the situation of 2C to decide if you want to withdraw from PHPPS to gamble on NGH and RGPS. -

I think what he meant was that since NYPS has affiliation to NYGH, he prefers thats. Not that the wife was from NYGH.@Lionel Ong

Although I've heard people doing this, it still sounds really stressful to me. What are the chances that when everyone sees there's no balloting and do the same thing? The situation may reverse at the last minute. If we withdraw from the other school thinking there's no balloting in the school of our top choice and eventually fail in the balloting we would end up with nothing :stupid:

agree it sounds very scary. But nothing ventured nothing gained. I would think many parents are in the know about this 'method' already....am not sure if I will be seeing a last min crowd at the school registration counters...macham like Sing Pool counters prior to 6pm on Wed and weekends.

Yes, itβs really stressful to have husband at one school and wife at another. Like what Minnie mentioned, the most scary thing to happen is to end up with nothing. I know all parents want the best for their kids.

it is a gamble.
thus make sure you know your odds and whether it is worth risking what you have already secured. And have a backup plan in case not success in ballot.
