All About Kids' Eye-sight

amylqf:
I didn't know that. So how long can the effect last? Have you tried that?
you might not need to wear every night when you eye sight getting better, but you need to wear it. otherwise, eyesight go back to previous degree.Bronzy:
My DD too has been squinting. which is what alerted me to her poor vision. Loves her specs as she says that she can now see all the things that she couldn't before without squinting. Encourage her not to wear it all the time if she doesn't need it. Would be impossible to get her not to strain her eyes esp in school where she needs to be able to read the board.
2ppaamm, Do the OrthoK lenses have to be worn every night forever? Or does the need to wear it decrease over time? -

ortho-k is a method to control myopia, not cure myopia. -
MyoVision
Just saw this on CNA
==========================================
......new lenses that have been clinically proven to slow down myopia progression in children by up to 30 per cent were developed by optical products developer and manufacturer Carl Zeiss Vision.
The new lenses, called MyoVision, make use of Peripheral Vision Management Technology, which corrects the image on the central part of the retina as well as on the periphery, by curving it so that it stays entirely on the retina.
This is different from the normal method used in optometry to correct myopia, which is to adjust the distance of images through the use of lenses......

How timely! I think we are still so far away from finding a cure. At least there are solutions to slow myopia down. That’s a good start.

that’s a good news! where to get this?

2ppaamm:
One big thing is to service them often and make sure good hygiene is observed ALL the time.
hi 2ppaamm,
What do you mean by \"service\" ? I mean what does Andrew do to the lens ? Like massive cleaning, or adjusting, or ?
BTW, my 3 kids are on Ortho-K now...
Can I find out what Soaking Solution and Cleaner do you use ? We are using about 1 bottle of Alcon GP Multi-Purpose every 1.5 weeks..... Very siong..... !

just check out at nanyang, lense itself cost $180, if thin type $380.
it is similar to bi-focal lense. but designed differently to suit the children.
Basically, what I understand from the sales person.
It is based on old concept and develop a new product, that's all. if the kids didn't use correctly, it is 'waste of money'.
quoted from sales man. -

Hi amylqf, what did the salesman mean by use \"correctly\"?if the kids didn't use correctly, it is 'waste of money'.

Would u know if it helps astigmatism too?
Thanks! -
wildboys:
when you see far, use the middle lense. when you see book, see from the bottom. if you also see book by using the center of the lense, then no use. might as well use the normal cheap lense.
