jetsetter:
for every force there is an equal and opposite force
That is Newton's 3rd law of motion. -

I dont know the exact phrasing of the qn. But for q1, is it related to compressed air and force?Copy pasting a post from parent James Ang~
For science I heard it's tough.
1) why does a balloon move in different directions when the air inside the balloon is released.
2) what must be change to a 40kg limit weighing scale to increase the weight limit to 50kg. why did the engineer says it is wrong for the weighing scale to reach 40kg limit before changing the spring.
Anyone able to provide an answer for Q2?
For q2, something to do with elasticity of the spring and the danger of electrocution.
There's a qn on warm soil and ground cracking, went thru the concepts with dd ystd. But she got it wrong still as it was presented in a different setting. Basically panicked at the last few qns : ) -

I hear that balloon question was only 1 mark. I doubt they are expecting aerodynamics for just 1 mark. I will hazard a guess that it was probably something about changing elastic force and having no fixed shape, working against gravitational force. These would be totally within syllabus and have been taught in many ways.
No fix shape, that's aerodynamic concept. Resulting in no symmetry of drag forces. That would be my answer too
If the setter intend no fix shape as the answer, then their are expectations is beyond p6. -

I think would be better to look at the question at a whole. Sometimes, the a) part of the question will give \"hint\" on how to answer. I also doubt it will be beyond syllabus.ammonite:

This is a totally unacceptable behavior of a teacher.. Will her/his scolding help the boy??Dd says a teacher was seen scolding a top boy for not finishing 2 qns from his Science paper. I thought that was uncalled for. He still has HCL tomm.
As adults not taking the PSLE, we dont know the pressure the children are experiencing in the exam. Dd's teacher did a MCQ paper with the class. She had 6 mistakes out of 30 qns. There are several in class who scored full marks.
Under such tremendous stress and expectations from teachers/parents, I think the children did admirably le.
Even if he/she feels 'what a waste' for the boy, he/she is the adult and should be matured enough to hold his/her emotions in check and not barrage the boy...
Would not one think that the poor boy is already feeling bad and disappointed as it is?? Why must the teacher 'add stone to a person who has fallen into a well ' (落井下石) instead of comforting him? He is only a 12-year-old kid, for goodness sake.
This teacher should be ticked off by the Principal for his/her insensitivity !! :spank: -

I would think the answer is D as well, from a parent's point of view.DS told me the first question is as below:
What characteristics does birds have but others do not
A) It lays eggs (Playtapus lays eggs but mammals)
B) It has wings (Insects have wings as well)
C) It has a streamlined body (Fishes)
D) It has feathers on its body (only for birds)
He wrote D as answer -

It is hard to tell without a diagram what the question is, but from my imperfect memory, within the syllabus, they can only test forces and properties of materials. If they show the balloon travelling in a simple arc, it would be elastic potential energy/kinetic energy vis-à-vis gravitational energy.ammonite:

If they show the balloon moving in spirals, it would be no fixed shape without requiring them to understand or explain about symmetry of drag forces. -
Qn 2 about the weight and spring, my child put down change to a longer spring.
