IP track is not for all kids. 6 years is a very long time and there are many who can’t make it in Year 2 or Year 3.

burning the candle both sides will cause kids to burn out.

Absolutely nothing wrong with O level track.

erm ... , there are 2 groups of parents out here

one group .... do Not look down on the O-level students

another group .... either the parents, or their children themselves, kind of, or in a way, to some extent, do look down on students taking O-level, somewhat.
Their mentality is, \"if you are good, should go to a pure IP school. What for, go to one, that offer emergency O-level track, on standby ? \".

Advice to this 2nd group of parents (P6xers or Secondary school students) is, don't look down on O-level students, too soon.
Even though your child may be currently studying or going to study inside a pure IP school ... but the road 6 years ahead in IP is uncertain, still very far, very long ahead. Just don't end up as a casualty yourself, in such a pure IP school.

There is a Chinese reminder, \"He who laugh first ... laugh last\"

I think such 2nd grp of parents do exist in those popular pri sch -
I dun hang around a lot in my kids sch, & dunno many parents - so I am lucky din get the stress meeting such parents in my kids sch. But ftwm will face such issues/stress in the pri sch ...

Am sure Our ksp kakis are not like that 😂

it’s not right to look down on students who take the o level track.

it’s as good as saying those who take the o level track are not intelligent compared to IP.

Being in IP doesn’t equate to being more intelligent.
It is just a difference in learning styles.
As parents, we shld never inculcate such mindset to our kids.

How’s your PSLE prep getting on?
The month of November is coming to an end soon hor.

according to dd, she is revising..these 2 days, I gave her 2 leftover Math papers from SA2..need do correction then can get correct ans. told me her bad are dont read qn properly, transfer wrong figure half way through the workings and one more I cant remember.. so told her must keep doing la. She/I find language is the most worrying one. The rest think can improve through more doing/reading but language 😓

:pokeeye: Better study hard hor. Go O-level later kena looked down by some mummies out there.

What is “...according to DD, she is revising”? :slapshead: :spank:

In the run up to PSLE, I suggest you better sit next to her lah. When school reopens, very fast it will be PSLE already. 😓[/quote]lee yl..will do that in Dec 😓

Above a very critical phrase - 'children themselves'.
It's only a 12-year-old kid from a supposedly less advantaged background, who fought hard to qualify for an IP school thru t-score, expressing her system preference and personal favour for schools sans the supposedly more advantaged affiliates joining at a discount (which I inferred is related to the need for an O level class, resulting in the kiddo's disdain?).

In some families, the elder sibling can exert a strong influence on the younger one in terms of picking a sec sch. Moreover, it's clarified it's nothing to do with looking down on O level track. I ain't too bothered by such kiddo views. Some of my friends' kids bitched about SAP schools with kids of PRC descent, calling them unkind names etc, but they will grow up and change their mind some day.

                        I like what you wrote.

I was taken aback by the post. I thought when it comes to choosing sec schools, one should go to the open house, have a feel, take a look at the curriculum, school culture, what school has to offer etc.

Just taken back to hear kids can say will only choose PURE IP schools! :whut: PURE IP or not, this is not a concern to me.
