This COP booklet containing the AL COPs that they will be issuing in ~June 2021, will it be the actual (hard and fixed) COPs that the schools will accept??

Or will it simply be a “conversion” from T score to AL score, based on the previous year’s COP (as per usual), for the parents’ reference purposes only?? Meaning final actual COP still could be up or down a few points??

I hate it when reporters don’t make things clear.

Just thinking out aloud, why can’t MOE released the "rough cut-off entry scores of all secondary schools" earlier like 2020? This will give give pupils and their parents MORE time to choose the secondary schools especially they can start going to the open house earlier rather than at PSLE year instead?

By June 2021, very few open house to some schools.

Another year of scrambling-for-schools by some parents. Hopefully will not lead to mayhem.

I think the reporter is sceptical on this change too....\"On paper, this new system with scoring bands is supposed to be less stressful than the current T-score system, as pupils don’t have to chase that last mark to get ahead of their peers.\" 😂 So it is hypothetically and supposedly. 😂

Ok, finally, after scrutinizing Straits Times, Today online and Channel News Asia articles, finally in CNA’s report I see the word indicative cut off points booklet.

Does anyone have a link to MOE’s actual press release? I think I’d rather read from the official-official source...

Thank u! Much clearer. They even show us a sample P5 report book results page in Annex B.

“Most of the students who need tie-breaking would be tie-broken by the first two tie-breakers of citizenship and choice order of schools. The vast majority of students will not need tie-breaking by balloting. Based on past cohorts’ choice patterns, about 9 in 10 students would not need to go to the balloting stage. The eventual balloting figure will depend on the choice patterns of students.“

I wish there are some concrete figures to support this declaration. This need to ballot makes me jittery. If you don’t get your first choice due to balloting bad luck, who knows how far in your list the posting will eventually drop to!

under the AL system, ‘choice order of schools’ will come in when there are 2 students with same AL choosing same school? Cannot use actual raw marks to calculate who has higher in total?

Nope. That’s the key difference between AL system and T score system.

Thought that’s the beauty of this system 😂
No more hogging of NYGH / RGS / MGS and RI / HCI / ACSI in the top 3 choices.
