Can I ask the gurus if last day will there be a lot of changes to the numbers?
There will be many parents playing musical chairs on the last day.
Went to SCGS to ask for breakdown of <1km and 1-2km. No answer was given. Not sure why they are so secretive about the numbers.

It is a difficult balancing act by MOE and schools.
I think it is fair not to reveal the breakdown for the sake of current 38 applicants who are eyeing the 37 places.

For example , assume f the breakdown is SC with-in 1 KM is 20 , SC 1-2 KM - 10, & SC more than 2KM - 8. If the breakdown is available,
What will happen if 5 PR and 5 SC from with-in 1 KM apply? The original 38 applicants believe SCGS is a good school and it is value system. They were unfairly disadvantaged.

Disagree. Most parents who have registered would also want to know as they wouldn’t wish to waste their 2C chance if they knew the odds were against them, and would have withdrawn and applied elsewhere before the end of the Phase.
Exactly :hi5: !!!

If parents are afraid of balloting, then they should either wait till last day to register or register in less popular school. suppose If getting a child to popular school is utmost importance than parents should take a day off and go to school personally on the last day to find out the latest information because during the last hour leading to closing, number will rise and fall. And certainly the schools or MOE doesnt want to be accused by the same group of parents for not updating information in the last hour or min of registration.

Here's some data derived from 2018 (if similar pattern holds).

New Borns:
2012: 42,663\t(SC+PR)
2013: 39,654 (SC+PR)

Vacancies:
2018: 41,820 (800 less than new borns)
2019: 39,058 (600 less than new borns)

Registered after 2B:
2018: 23,002 (53.9% of new borns)
2019: 21,148 (53.3% of new borns)

Registered after 2B + Applied at 2C:
2018: 38,542 (90.3% of new borns)
2019: ~35808 (Expected, assuming 90.3% of new borns)

As of today (Day2 @ 2C), total registered after 2B + Applied at 2C Day2:
2019: 34505

So if my assumption is right, we shall still expect around 1,300 new registrations (35808-34505) on the last day of 2C.

We will verify the data tmr!

FYI:
Registered after 2C + Applied at 2CS:
2018: 38,622

I was wondering people who have registered online can they still withdraw by going to schools directly…or it’s no longer an option since withdrawal was supposed to be done online only and now the link is no longer there after 4:30pm today. Any ideas?

WIthdrawal can be done at the registered school.

Hi,

We are SC >2km from Marymount Convent, using it as our backup option. Based on data, it’s ok between 2014 - 2017, does anyone have last year’s data pls? Any kind advice about the school being a backup option in 2CS appreciated too! Thanks!

This year TUR is the lowest at 26%, it’s a high chance for all in 2CS. Nonetheless, it is many parents backup school so slight risk. So far day 2 numbers for CHIJ tpy and SNGS not too bad and hopefully day 3 stays rational and there will not be too much spillover
