Reassuring to know as my impression is that it is getting very common.
I do not.Estéema\" post_id=\"1937075\" time=\"1569386553\" user_id=\"66413:
The reason I am asking if forum people allow their maids annual home paid leave cos just want to understand is it based on exceptional performance of the maid and hence, the employers give this benefit.
Esteema - do u allow them to go back yearly ? lol
I’ve shared in earlier posting in reply - Sporeans families do not typically offer yearly paid leave. Those who provides are usually families taking long holidays to visit relatives in M’sia, long holidays or expat families.
I know that it is quite common to bring the maid along when the family goes away for holiday, especially when the kids are young.
Yes. I’ve brot my Indo maids to M’sia & HK with family when kids were young.
But some countries can’t being them along & some need a lot of paperwork.
I usually apply to MOM to park my helper with in-laws or trusted frds if I can’t or don’t want to bring maids along -
Seriously considering letting my current helper go. She is good in household chores, no black face and honest enough. Problem is she does not follow instructions well.
Since she joined I have stressed that DS cannot eat seafood and he must have meat for his meals. Explained to her that DS has allergies so it is important that she remembers that. I have to resort to stocking up on ready to eat stuff like yakitory and buffalo wings for when she ‘forgets’. And that is a few times a month.
Told her she is not supposed to feed the dog anything at all. Dog ended up with diarrhoea 3 times so far and DD caught her feeding the dog bread with butter and some leftover fruits that we refused to give him as we are not sure if it is something dogs can eat.
Told her not to leave the dog unattended without his e collar since he is having some skin problems. Found the dog with the collar removed and unsupervised a few times and he bothered his sores until they are bleeding, red and raw. Same thing happened when he had his surgery and that was how his stitches came undone.
Showed her how we prefer our clothes to be hung or folded. For a few days it will be how we wanted it. But eventually it will be back to how she did it initially.
Told her not to add sugar to her cooking but things still turn out tasting sweet. Told her don’t use oyster sauce for vege but she still use.
Told her to go marketing only after the kids have left for school in case we need help with some last minute stuff but she still goes before 6am! Asked her why she needs to go so early and why she takes so long and comes back only after 8am. She say cos she goes for church meditation session after buying vege. Session is at 7am. Told her she can only go to the market after 6.30am she actually told me she see how. Until I changed my tone and stared at her direct and ask her what see how, I am telling you now you to go to the market only after 6.30am then she apologised and said she understood. -

Dog cannot eat oil. A dog which I know had to go for dialysis equivalent to clean out its blood after eating human food by accident.

@ Funz Your helper pino? Very stubborn attitude siah.
You did the right thing being firm & reiterate you are the eyer giving the instructions to be followed.
A family’s health is utmost impt. I wld hv replaced her and take over h’hold to ensure my kids are not subjected to such nonsense. Allergies are impt to watch, some can be life threatening. For new helpers, I watch tightly that new helper get on to family routine strictly & only let go after 3 mths. Correct them immediately the moment things deviate.
You’re very forebearing, but yr son & golden retriever suffered. -
Indon. 40+ yrs old. No experience, higher education than most with a pretty decent command of English. As a person she is very pleasant. Very pious. So much so that going to church takes precedence over her work.
I am not one who micro manages and I hate to have to repeat myself. I guess it is just not a good fit. -

2 wks paid home leave is the norm?
my mom's neighbour has the same maid for 8 years. she is indeed blessed to have a reliable one.
after completion of 2 years contract, she has paid home leave for 2 weeks. -
do indon maids (like pinoy maids) demand annual home leave after their 2 years contract ?

Typically they’re not as gangho as Pinos to pull fast ones to demand fr eyers. If u’re fortunate enuf, u get Indos who can cook well, clean well but may take time to rmbr all yr instructions & diff family patterns. If not, u might get those who steal, lie & those who had led a very ‘simple life’ not doing much back home & u’ve to keep giving same instructions & think they’re lazy whilst they’re not initiated enuf to assess that it is gonna to be regular part of their duties.

These days eyers hv more to worry abt such as Pinos taking unsecured loans & strange ppl start knocking on eyers’ doors. Indo helps may land themselves in same trap. Maids these days might get carried away ‘stealing’ for hp time, YouTube time & for Indo maids who might also be overcomes by loneliness & persuaded to find terrorists actitivities. -
Having got all the advise from forum contributors, here is my current maid contract. I am planning now how to get rid of her without causing too much drama at home.
1st contract
1 Jan 2017 – 1 Jan 2019: Completed 2 years contract and took her entitled home leave in Feb 2019.
2nd contract
1 Feb 2019 – 1 Feb 2021: By right, she will only be entitled home leave upon completing her 2nd contract but maid DEMANDED to be given home leave in Dec 2019 insisting her entitlement to yearly home leave citing the invalid Philippines law as stated in contract (actually agency said this law is not binding in SG)
I intend to buy her a 2 way airticket instead of a 1 way airticket (so that she will not suspect anything) and upon arrival in Changi airport, just tell her that I am terminating her service immediately and compensate her salary for 2 months ie. Jan – Feb 2020.
The next day will call travel agent to cancel the return ticket and cancel her work permit
Questions:
a)\tOnce airtickets issued, can travel agent cancel the return airtickets ?
b)\tOn what grounds can I write to MOM to bar FDW to work in SG
c)\tIs it against MOM law to terminate FDW on actual day (to protect my family members) without prior notice ?
