Why didn't our MFA repatriate Singaporeans and PRs FOR FREE, since they want to protect our people from the worsening situation in South Asia?

Is it because they'd rather sell them indiv airline seats and SHN hotel rooms, than to provide them w a free homebound flight and free quarantine room?!

If the authorities had rounded them up at Delhi or Mumbai and put them on some mercy flight home, they could have sent them all to ONE SINGLE isolation facility and isolate them for up to 21 days, instead of letting them run amok in the community and stay at diff random hotels of their choice.

That Connect@Changi EXPO must be under-occupied now. Nothing's been reported on more businessmen booking the meeting rooms and staying in those rooms, despite the rah rah initially. Highly recommend that high-risk visitors be put up in those luxurious rooms.

Anyway, the SAS pupil had passed the virus to 2 school bus mates. I wonder what variant the LP tutor got. So powerful. Went to LP on 8 May, went to Chinese tuition centres on 9 May, kids straight away got Covid symptoms on 11 May or 12 May.

CCS says they are thinking of giving vaccines to the <16 yr olds. Would you let your children below 16 take the vaccine? Didn't OYK say it's harder for children to get it last year (something along that line)? :slapshead:

1 inmate has been infected by the SATS catering chef who's based in the prison. That inmate might be an apprentice deployed at the kitchen to cook for the others, else how could an outsourced chef come into contact with an inmate? Hope the inmates had been vaccinated. What a nightmarish summer.

        https://www.theguardian.com/world/2021/may/14/indian-covid-variant-which-countries-have-highest-infection-rates

This report has Singapore as #2 but did not include UK
Guardian did include their own country as the #2 outside and after India. The map provides the exact nos. But MOH's statement didn't mention ours at all.

\"Outside India, the UK has recorded the highest number of cases of the Indian variant, at 1,587 cases to date. The US, Singapore and Germany are the only other countries to have sequenced more than 100 cases of the B.1.617+ variant, according to the Gisaid Initiative.\"

7 PRIMARY SCHOOLS TO SWITCH TO HBL

The Ministry of Education said in a statement on Sunday that seven primary schools will move to home-based learning for the next two weeks. This comes after several students from these primary schools tested positive for COVID-19 after attending tuition classes.

The affected schools are Kong Hwa School, Palm View Primary School, St Andrew Junior School, St Margaret's Primary School, St Stephen's School, Yio Chu Kang Primary School and Yu Neng Primary School.

Home based learning for these schools will begin on May 17 until the end of the current term on May 28 to curb the risk of COVID-19 transmission.

For bringing a senior on a wheelchair to the hospital for a medical appointment, can a family member and a helper come along? This two pax rule may be challenging to abide.

The Learning Point teacher went to see doctor and was told that her diarrhea and fever likely due to viral infection and was sent home without swabbing (on 9th May).

The guidelines for swabbing really vary from doctor to doctor as my friend’s kid similarly had diarrhea and fever and was swabbed for Covid on 5th May.

I find that we citizens as well as doctors were all ill informed that diarrhea could be a symptom of the new variant!! Everyone just looking out for respiratory symptoms.

And also, since day one I already doubted the usefulness of temperature scan to enter shopping malls to pick up Covid cases. This time round has shown the whole setup to be for show only!!
If one feels feverish, just pop a panadol then can still go pass the temperature scan. It only gives a false sense of confidence that everyone has been “scanned” and that it’s safe.

Diarrhea and fever is the same symptoms as a typical stomach flu symptoms, common on many childcare, student-care and schools setting. I don't think it also qualify under ARI symptoms.

if one has diarrhoea, fever, loss of smell, sore throat or cough etc, just go to any PHPC clinic and pay $10 for consultation, swab test etc?
