I was surprised some of the school cluster people were put on LOA. Does it mean they can still go to the supermarket (in twos) to shop?

\"Meanwhile, all staff and students who are close contacts with the Covid-19 cases from Kong Hwa School and St Stephen’s School will be placed on leave of absence or quarantined.\"
      https://www.straitstimes.com/singapore/parenting-education/more-schools-move-to-home-based-learning-after-students-test-positive

Last year we saw Singaporeans and PRC undergrads who'd returned from their March vacation or home trips being placed on 14-day LOA. Netizens were concerned that those LOA fellas were still able to gallivant, resulting in 防疫破口。 I don't know the protocols this year, but technically, they can go out after dark to buy essentials from the 24hr shops yah?

The St Stephens boy in that video posted by emoh was LOA'd first before getting a call that they had to be QO'd. Hope they did not roam the streets while being LOA'd.

There was one Jade-so & so blogger who'd complained that her new Indonesian helper was not picked up immediately after being informed she was positive. Likewise, St Stephens boy was also not picked up promptly by CISCO Certis until 48-36 hours later, Sun 9pm. Could it be because CISCO escorts were fully booked during this period?

        OYK, in my opinion.
        - for only keeping to his narrow kpi of opening up (although I acknowledge the other ministers shld hv voiced out as well
        - for not even ensuring the basic task of segregating high-risk flights when they come in, causing intermingling in the secure zones (the Changi Airport Grp mgt should also take the hit here).[/quote]
His head can roll two times. One time for WEF. Another for Shangrila Dialogue which's been cancelled by the organiser. Ng Eng Hen must be devastated, after all the planning behind the scene. So busy he must have been with this dialogue that he'd vanished from the MTF scene altogether.

We must be very astute to sense something's wrong when people ban our national carrier. This airport segregation thingie isn't new. After SARS subsided, for 6 mths or more, Changi T2 I recall remained vigilant and had visitors from high risk countries going to a certain faraway gate, in fact, it was the last gate at the end of the travellator. As I used to fly a lot to those high risk SARS region, I know they did direct all passengers to 1 route, although the route was still porous as you need to walk past other enclosed waiting lounges.

        Recap 🙂

\"It's not a community case in the sense that they are running around the community. They were on a specific ship confined to our port area,\"

\"Bunker tankers are like petrol kiosks floating around our port refuelling different vessels coming into our port,\"

\"So there was a case on this vessel and all the ship crew, they were tested, and it was shown that four more on the same ship were positive. But throughout this period, the entire crew was on the ship. They've never gone into our community.\"

\"It's a different environment - you can lock down the dorm... (but) you can't lock down Toa Payoh, you can't lock down Ang Mo Kio,\"

\"Someone in the community can circulate the virus and the chances of transmission are higher.\"

On the 19 workers at Westlite Woodlands dormitory who tested positive for Covid-19 last week, the minister noted that there have no new cases in the past few days. \"So that is a source of comfort that, hopefully, those dorm cases do not extend beyond that.\"

Some people cut the plastic bottle of those water dispenser, put it over their head, on top of wearing a face mask

            Or

Wear a NTUC plastic bag over their head, poked 2 holes onto plastic bag so that their eyes can see, then tie up the plastic bag at their chin

6 police officers? That’s too much. Must report to the police.
Due to COVID, we all know robbers, burglars and what-nots can only commit crime in pairs, why we still group so many police officers together.

I'm still waiting for MTI's Economic Survey for 1Q2021. The advance estimates for overall GDP was 0.2% only. The actual GDP growth rate has not been released yet, despite it's nearing end-May.

\"MTI will release the preliminary GDP estimates for the first quarter of 2021,
including performance by sectors, sources of growth, inflation, employment
and productivity, in its Economic Survey of Singapore in May 2021. \"

Our FDI inflows in 2020 was a decent USD 58 billion, a dive from 2019's whopping USD 92 billion. Notwithstanding CCS still did well as MTI minister. He also managed to lured WEF meeting in last year, but alas... :gloomy:

There are direct links between GDP / economic growth and closure of borders to inflow of workers / professionals. No worker how to operate factories, no IT professionals how to entice more investments from global MNCs etc.

Because of his KPI, I hope he is not the one who objected against the pre-emptive closure of borders to South Asians! :lightrod:
