The allure of the academic domain is that it comes with no strings attached while you will need to commit to the related CCA for sport / performing art.
Some academic domains require you to do X for elective module/enrichment, which means you cannot do Y. Some of this stuff could flow through to Sec 3 classes as well (I think).

Definitely not as time consuming as going to practice 3-4x per week for 4 years, and one will still be taking the same core 8 classes. But may not always be free entry ticket, so need to check with specific schools on what they require/expect (regarding academic domain).

My DC’s school does not even indicate the yearly prize winners (top 3, top in EMS in cohort), edusave awards, E2K, participation in science olympiads, only show if won medals… so participation not shown.

Only indicate the CCA and if hold any leadership roles in CCA or class or Prefect.
I know some schools put almost everything…even participation.

        Different school really different…sigh…

I never see any of academic excellence award or any best in subjects or Edusave award being mentioned, so need to mention as well?

Really glad to see this forum exists!

My daughter just started P6 and we are interested in netball DSA for her to a few schools. Anyone has any experience on how is the DSA process like for Cedar Girls or Crescent Girls?

              TIA!
              HAPPY CNY!
For those applying to Cedar Girls DSA (under Social Innovation), if you choose \"No Preference\" and are successful, usually they will offer u CO for IP track. So, u will study 4 years (IP) at Cedar Girls Secondary, then come year 5, can join the boys at Victoria Junior College.

              If u submit \"No Preference\",
Cedar seldom offer CO (Social Innovaton) for O-level track, unless the school worried that u may not be able to cope with IP rigor, based on your past years primary school's results.

But, of course if you really don't like IP, then just explicitly choose \"O-level \" track (in whatever domain, you are keen in). And then when come to end of Sec 2 two years later, should u decide to transfer over from O-level to IP, opportunities are still there.

Do you put all the math Olympiad medals in one line( SPSO, NMOS and RIPMWC) then science Olympiad medals in one line ( RSO and SPSO) ?

Remember, DSA is the answer to reducing PSLE stress. There’s nothing more comforting than an offer from the secondary/IP school you are targeting, as that bypasses the confusing secondary school application system.

Good luck to everyone going for DSA!

I am trying to search for answer and chance upon this. My DS received an invitation to apply DSA to RI today, the letter was sent directly to his school. He won medals in the recent NSG T&F which was just concluded on Wed. We are very surprise to receive the letter too, didnt know got such thing as invitation to apply.
We asked if he wants to continue doing T&F in sec school. He said he doesn’t mind to continue to do T&F but if given a choice, he would like to join the school debate team. He has AL score of 5 + Merit for HMT in his P5 SA2. He also has MO certs but not the gold type as he never attend any MO training. We are still in dilemma if we should apply DSA or to try to get in good schools via his own PSLE result….we are not sure if we want him to go thru Sports route. Anyone has similar experience can share?
I know invitation is not a confirm seat, but chances should be relatively high esp with his consistent school result.
Just some useful points for your consideration :
                    1) In RI , all sports CCA is on 3 days . They are usually on mon , wed and fri starting from 4pm and end at about 6.30pm (varies across different sports).
                    2) Sports CCA are extremely popular and hard to get in . The boys have to go thru trials .
                    3) Debate is another extremely popular cca and audition is required . So even if your son decides to enter RI via psle T score route , it doesn’t mean that he will definitely get into debate .
                    4) DSA commitment for RI is for 4 years , if I’m not wrong . Please clarify during the open house .

Hi. Do you know if all those that applied for sports will be invited for trials or there’s a round of selection before the trials?

                        For Debate (RI) DSA domain,
must one be short-listed first before can attend the audition,

                        Or

whoever have applied for the Debate (RI) domain, automatically will be invited to attend an audition ?

During the trial (audition) debate, how long they test u ?
Can describe how they conduct this ?

                        Is it on the spot,
they give applicants one debate topic to talk about, tell the applicant is he \"for\" or \"against\" the topic, then after that, 4 applicant(s) formed one team got to debate the other team (with another 4 applicants inside), while the panel of interviewers are watching (judging) them, on their
                        debating skill ?
