Just like to highlight another question to show what they mean by 'PSLE marking' system.

P3 Q42 Why did his heart rate increase while he was jogging?
DD ans : His heart needed to pump more blood to all parts of his body. Marking : wong, no mark.
Teacher ans : His heart pumps faster to supply more oxygen to all parts of his body.
What I want to say that you need to be supply more details to your ans, mentioning blood is not good enough. So better to get assessment books with more detailed explanation. For me : I think a more complete ans should be : His heart pumps faster to supply more blood which is rich in oxygen to all parts of the body. (link blood to oxygen, easier for kid to understand).
Agree. To get the full marks, the child needs to provide more details in relation to the question. The teacher's answer doesn't seem to be very accurate either...I like your answer as it is more detailed...the body will need more oxygen-rich blood when the person is jogging.

my son gave the same answer as you DD, also no marks. he lost all three marks here.
I doubt that their science teacher has explained this concept clearly.

Personally i think \"more blood\" is incorrect leh.. i mean, the amount of blood is always the same in our body.

Why I mention this, is that some assessemtn books will just mentioned 'The heart pumps blood that flows in the tubes call blood vessel'. Hence kid will just put blood to that Q42. I think ought to give mark (maybe half mark) to my kid's ans, IMHO. (to let the kid's know that it is not wrong but not enough).

Actually I feel that teachers should explain some of questions which commonly appear in exam papers.

In P4 SA2 Section B, there is this question. What are the 2 advantages of using electromagnets over permanent magnets in the magnetic levitation train ?

Answer from teacher (according to PSLE standard πŸ˜‰ 😞
              i) We can control the strength of the electromagnets.
ii) We can switch on and off the electricity when we want the train to stop or move.

Had a Discussion with PH Teacher this Morning on the Subject of Class Renaming ....

Confirmed P6 is Gonna B Named Resilience ....
And Other Levels R Gonna to B Named according to the 5 Values ....
And the Students R Gonna B Educated In Each of the Named Year's Values, They Say that this is More Meaningful than Charity, Faith, etc but the Students R Not Really Being Taught Relevant In-Depth Values of the Class NameSake ....
Charity Students R Not Really Charitable, etc ....

And Yes, the Top Classes R Gonna B \"HIDDEN\" somewhere in the 10 or 11 Classes, Probably they will change the Class Numbering for Top Classes Every Year ....

My Feeling is This is Gonna B Effective for those in P1, Or Probably P2, where Level Position Has Not Been Publicised in The Report Books Before ....

For Other Levels, Just Look at where the Year End Top 10 Students are placed in which Class - AND the PUZZLE is SOLVED, \"WE KNOW WHICH IS the TOP CLASS!\"

You are right about effectiveness for this year's P1 to P2 as they will be going en-bloc. The top 10 award recipients with still be together with their current classmates. The P2s to P3s will be banded and like what u had said of other levels, the kids will ultimately know the top class by identifying the top 10 scorers.

I nearly choked on my coffee when I was reading the ST sports section just now. Apparently PH just won the inaugural inter-school equestrian event.

I would naturally associate equestrian with more 'katang' schs like ACS, SJI. Didn't know PH getting to be so atas (in jest only) πŸ˜‰ .

Since winning helps to build up character traits & sch identity, my heartfelt congrats to the equestrian team for making the sch proud.

I'm sure I'm not the only klutz here who's totally lost on what's happening in PH. The rapid changes being proposed & then the constant backtracking makes ambigiuous reading to me. To cut a long story short, this is what I gathered.

                      a) All classes will be renamed (Integrity .... Resilience). No more CH, FA etc.

                      b) En-bloc from P1 to P2. Streaming only at end-P2.

                      c) No level ranking up to at least P2 (better still if no class ranking at all).

                      d) Criterion to stream students from P3 onwards will only be finalized in mid-Dec. Could be S-banding as mentioned by E3.

                      Am I correct?

To sidetrack a bit, yesterday during P1 orientation P mentioned that with most PH teachers being female & under 40, disruption due to maternity leave is going to remain as part & parcel of sch life. By being upfront about it, I think she's trying to preempt future parents' complaints about the constant change of teachers.

She said that in last yr P1 Orientation too. Just a caveat, I guess.
