River Valley High School [*IP]

I am not sure you people have realised a subtle difference in the way rv counts thing. If it is true, rv's A level results may be better than we have felt.
See this statement in the website:
\"23 students obtained 7 distinctions (including distinctions in General Paper, Higher Chinese Language and Project Work)\"
The key point I want to stress is that they include only students with distinctions in all 3 , GP, HCL and PW. While those that may obtain 7 distinctions but a B for GP, for example, are not included in this number. This is a more stringent criteria of counting since the 7 distinctions number provided by other schools are all a more general number that need not require a distinction in GP, HCL and PW.
Am I correct? Maybe someone can enlighten me? -

becos of the word \"including\" which mathematically means that out of the 23 students,
it did include students with distinctions in GP, HCL and PW.
So, it does not meant \"ONLY comprises of \".
anyway, juz my view and interpretation. -
My interpretation of the statement is:
RV had 23 students who scored 7 distinctions. Of these 23, all of them scored distinctions in GP, HCL and PW.
It doesn’t mean that if you had 7 distinctions but didn’t score A in GP/HCL/PW, you wouldn’t be counted in the list. -
ok, prompt me to take a look at RV “A” level results at its website, (but weihan Y still talking abt A level results now ?
)
notice, 2 diff ways of reporting for diff cat.
as it stated
\"23 students obtained 7 distinctions (including distinctions in General Paper, Higher Chinese Language and Project Work)\"
\"44 students obtained 6 distinctions (which may include distinctions in General Paper, Higher Chinese Language and Project Work)\"
so prob the 1st statement referring to the number of students with distinctions in GP, HCL and PW,
while the 2 nd statement, the number of 44 inclusive of such students. -
RV won in SJAB zonal FA competition - clean sweep!!!:congrats: :celebrate:

I am doing some research, reading up and thinking on why certain schools perform better than expected.Augmum:
Exactly, that was what I meant. Since counting 7 distinctions that require distintions in all three GP, PW and HCL is more stringent, I thought the number could be even higher if they count it in the usual way.

I am interested in RV. I almost sent The Daughter there but she decided to go to an IP school. In those days, RV had no IP. I am still interested in RV for my son.... What is this SJAB zonal FA competition please? -
WeiHan:
Are you saying that students who scored 7 distinctions but not in GP/PW/HCL won't be included in the count for 7 distinctions? I don't think so. I think that all of the 23 students who scored 7 distinctions ALSO happened to score distinctions in GP/PW/HCL. RV just wanted to point out that all of their 23 students who scored 7 distinctions also scored distinctions in GP/PW/HCL.Augmum:

It is very rare for a school to produce all their 7 distinctions and all with distinctions in GP/PW/HCL. If you check with people, it is very common that students get 7 distinctions but with either no distinction in GP or HCL. The extra distinction that they make up with come from another H1 or H3 subjects.WeiHan:
