      Hi Champion,
Maybe the questions are too challenging?
I did not buy any vocab assessment book yet because we are still working on the past year papers.
For vocab section, he will try. Even if he does not know how to do, he will have to guess by elimination. Then he make a mark so that I will go through with him on Sunday.
Then on Sunday, I will explain all the 4 options. I will look through the dictionary if I find it difficult to explain in lay-man's term. After explaining the option, my child will then choose his answer again. We reinforced the question he got wrong during exams revision time. He knows how to use the dictionary to search for words but I agree that it is very time consuming. I will get him to do so only for his schoolwork.
We follow this same 'regime' for other subjects too (although I find it difficult to explain CL vocab words :().
      Hi teh_oh,
Maybe i should try your method and see whether it works for my DD1
I have decided to put aside the 4-in-1 assessment book as it is really v thick and I think she has \"phobia\" seeing it :!:...I have not started the stack of past year exam papers.... :imdrowning:

        Hi Champion,

The Challenging English 4-in-1 is good for weekly practice as it's a complete practice. I get that book for my son in P5 to work on it by himself. Have this Eng assessment for CA/SA practice.

Every week, we try to cover these components of Eng...Grammar, Vocab, Cloze, Editing, Synthesis & Comprehension.

          Hi Janet,
Thanks for the advice and recommendation; really appreciates.

As I mentioned before, try not stepping into Popular that often :dowan: but somehow the urge to \"go and see see look look\" is always there :peekaboo:...Trying to build up a stronger foundation for her vocab....

            Hi janet,
Just when I thought that you have 'show-hand' all your assessment books collection via the several postings that you had shared with us, you come up with yet another book that I have not seen before. 😎 We are unable to include in English assessment book in our revision schedule as it is already very pack. One day for each subject and one subject can take up 1-2 hours. 4 subjects plus 2 compos each, 6 days in a week gone. Can imagine your situation at P5 is worse.

              Hi teh_oh,

I think I got this CA/SA last year...4 for $10 promotion. Didn't take it out for son to use, until I realized how tough his comprehension OE passage for CA1 was. Supposed to get him to do compo like this book but don't know how to squeeze out time as we have been working on EL Oral (end of Apr).

Have several assessment books on the shelf esp Eng & Science, but I split up English practice to 2 types - CA/SA for revision b4 any CA or SA, Home Study and Teachers' Circle are for weekly practice.

                Hi Janet,

                Have yet to buy πŸ‘…

I was at Popular JP last weekend and saw the EPH 4 for $10 on sales but did not manage to get close because many parents/students were standing there browsing the copies. Sorry, to confirm - did you see them for all levels or certain levels only? Is this the following one?

                Hi Janet and Champion,
I saw this today. Will go back tomorrow to see if I can amass 4 books to enjoy the offer. Probably going to get a Vocab book, a grammer book, one on math problem sums and need one more.

                  Hi teh_oh,
My dear hubby \"volunteered\" and went Popular Jurong Point yesterday on my behalf πŸ˜‰..But he said the P3 Vocabulary was already out-of-stock so he got P3 Grammar, P4 Vocabulary, P3 Must know Maths Problem Sums and a P2 exam test papers package. I am taking the P3 Grammar book with me to read while taking the public transport; keeping the P4 Vocab for next year usage; the Maths Problem sum I will read thru after I finish with the P3 Grammar. For the Chinese, I am giving it away to a dear friend who is helping dear son prepares for the coming SA1 πŸ˜„

Just want to share that I find the EPH Quick Revision Grammar Guide by Janet Tan useful. I bought for both years - P5 & P6. Original px is around $2.70; for P6's, I got it at a steal for $0.85 during the Dec Pop Fest!

I like it cos it's a summary of the grammar rules - eg. I can zoom in to the portion on Direct & Indirect Speech when I did S&T revision with DS.
