Just to share my own experience, though some are not that recent.

Garibaldi - Went a few years back. Food is good but not as nice as Jaan.

Jaan - Went for set lunch few months back and it's one of the best meals I ever had. We were there on a Monday and since we were quite early for lunch (12.30pm), we had the whole restaurant and the attention of all the staff to ourselves. Will definitely go again if budget allows :boogie:

Shaslik - One of my regular haunt. Not for a romantic night out but go if you are after good food. Shaslik of beef and dessert highly recommended.

Ippudo - Nice ramen and cheese cake. Need I say more?

Etna - Just tried this out recently. The original restaurant is in the East but I went to the newer one at Duxton. Just go with what is recommended. Portions are big so do take it easy when ordering.

So many reviews on Jaan. I should go try it out one day.

Was at Wild Rocket for dinner this week-end. I’m quite traditional and unadventurous with food, so when i first looked at the menu, I was like…oh dear…dunno what to order…the food looked a bit strange and I was afraid I wouldn’t enjoy it.

It’s actually very interesting, e.g. squid-ink risotto with salted fish, bak-kut teh consommé with pork dumplings, duck confit with fried yam cake, deep-fried soft-shell crab in a balck pepper sauce and granny smith apples, lamb tandoori with yoghurt, chendol ice-cream with shaved Gula Melaka…

The meal turned out really yummy. I’m not a food critic, so I can’t wax lyrical about the flavours and textures. All I know is that I ended up really enjoying the meal.

Mandarin Court - Dim Sum Lunch

Went for Dim Sum Lunch on the weekend and wasn’t too impressed

The "xiao long bao" was a little too big and the folds weren’t delicate or prominent. The broth and meat were nice so no complains.

The pancake with pork floss is nice. "Glutinous rice in wrapped in Lotus Leaves" - so so. Ee Fu noodles - Nice but enough to feed 4 people. Beef in black pepper sauce - err… Crystal Jade’s taste much nicer, Har Gao - average

Overall - Dim Sum Experience wasn’t what I would expect from a premium chinese restaurant…

Ambience and view is nice though

I like Petrasienta at Portsdown road. Its an Italian restaurant run by two brothers. We like the seafood soup, t bone steak, squidink pasta. Ask for the tomatoes which they imported themselves fr Italy. Its really nice. Also like the fact that I can enjoy good food without having to dress up. Also got outdoors.
