      Hi maths isn’t fun

Thanks for the reply. As sota is still a relatively new school in Singapore, I’m just finding out more information here. I do not know of many doing visual arts but I do understand in general what they are looking for fr my kids art teacher. Dd has a very good art teacher and dd is well exposed to various art form since young. We may explore this option when the time comes. At the mean time, I better start keeping her art work properly…agree that originals are better than images.

By the way, what’s the difference between sot a and those mainstream schools with art elective program? There is a psle cut off point for sota as well as per yr post earlier. I believe its the time spent on art vs the academic aspect, right?

No COP for SOTA, they'll take in as long as you have a T-score of 200 (express) and most importantly, you must pass the audition for the art form you chose.

My friend’s kid had a CO from SOTA but unfortunately didn’t do well in PSLE so was posted to a mainstream school. She managed to get back to SOTA on appeal.

The pupil must have missed by 1 or 2 points, it's possible.

I don't know what her score was, but didn't make it to Express.

Any parents here received the invitation to SOTA education experience and information session?

Do Year 2 students at SOTA have to choose their subject combinations for Year 3/4, like all other schools? If so what sort of combinations does SOTA offer?

Yes. In y3 either Physics and Chem or Bio and Chem and all other subjects. Eg. Humanities, Maths, Chinese, Literature and their respective art form.

In Y4 a different combi again. New subjects like Econs and Anthropology.

Thanks dasalo. Year 3 subject combi sounds similar to mainstream schools. Anthropology is completely different though. Do they choose to do the 3 higher and 3 lower subjects in Year 3 too? (I'm not sure of the correct terminology.)
