GEP 2011 - Screening & Selection
-
Since the briefing for kids who gets thru selection will be on 12 Nov…looks like we can expect results to be release starting late this week + early next week…
Good luck to everyone. For those who are still taking their EYO examine, good luck and do your best. You are less than a week to enjoyment for job well done -

Just curious, are there special tuition centres for GEP? The topics they cover are quite different.
I don't think there are tuition centres which cater exclusively to GEP. But it seems many geppers go to The Learning Lab. -
besides Learning Lab, where else ?
-
heard of GEPpers going to TLL too. But they r more of an enrichment ctr…not a tuition centre.

jtoh:
Well the super expensive tuition centre is very near the Bukit Timah centres so it's not surprising that you would see more of these students there. Just as you would see a congruence of other non-GEP Bukit Timah schools there plus mainstream students from the GEP schools.
Can share which tuition centre near Bukit Timah you guys are talking about? -
chamonix:
how does one explain why some kids who have been tested gifted (IQ test or Mensa) failed to make it past the second round?
Oh, you heard of such cases? I heard of one such case too.
Anyway, after discussing with dh, we decided not to take any action. No training or special preparation.
Bottom line, gep is just an alternative for mensa kids. It's not like they would be suffering in mainstream if not picked up by the screening for whatever reasons. More time to pursue hobby?
So probably don't have to worry too much when it's your child's turn

Now I kinda understanding why some think it is a matter of luck. Perhaps we never really understand what is the selection criteria and so we feel that some deserving ones ‘missed the boat’.

heard GEP result is out at ACS
