I doubt this is up to individual school's discretion since it's a national wide registration exercise.

Furthermore, there's no requirement by MOE on duration. They only need the proof of membership. It's really up to each org to decide on the requirement of membership.
MOE doesn't govern this. Is up to the clan/church or even the school to set criterias on who they want to issue the letters to. Most criterias are set by the clans and churches, but I know of a school who has some requirements for the church members to fulfil before they will 'stamp' on the church letter. In this case, is the school's discretion, not the church.

I'm surprised to hear this. As long as you have proof of membership, you can apply and register at Phase 2B like everyone else. I do not think there's any discriminatory practice at the school side.

In the Methodist church where I worship, to prevent abuse, new members have to fulfill some requirements before they can get the P2B endorsement letter. Must be a regular worshipper with the church for 1 or 1.5 years and be a member in a cell group for at least 6 mths, something like that.

But I am not sure how strictly they enforce this , I hear the pastor announce for all parents to go to the church office to pick their 2B letter every year around the same period. It does sound like anyone can just go and get one 😄

Not discriminatory practice, just that there were people who once abused this priority. To prevent this from happening, being a member for 1 or 10 years do not necessary guarantee one the right to register in Phase 2B. Someone who has been a member for 10 yrs can be a sleeping member too. Thus, in order to qualify for 2B, one has to be active.

I do not think there is such a requirement for 2B now.

Fake faith in church in order to be eligible for P2B. Very Sad.

That's very real! i knew someone who contemplated to convert to Catholic just so the son can get into CHS. Though she eventually didn't, i still desprise such behaviour.

                        Hi.

I want to check if my husband join SHHK as member , but he has no time to do volunteer work as he most weekend he works. I am not a hokkein ( this is a big issue ? ). Can I volunteer to help out at SHHK instead ?
Hokkien Huey Kuan (SHHK) - for Hokkien dialect folks only.

since you aren't Hokkien - cannot join, can't volunteer.
only your husband can join - because he is Hokkien.
