About there bah... -
Hello Daisyt, long time no "chat"…
When I get to forum, your dd was going year 2 & soon going year 5. How time flies… -
S Lee:
I don't think your child will struggle cos my daughter is taking high Chinese but she also gets about 80+ for Chinese. Your child like Chinese? If yes, should not be a concern.
DD took higher Chinese in primary but was struggling in year 1 & 2. I think it all depends on individual child as Daisyt mentioned and not so much impact on whether they take higher Chinese or not. -
WeiHan:
Hi WeiHan,I have some questions.
What is RV's school fees for PR and Citizens respectively?
How are the ipad program going? What are the benefits and negatives that parents have discovered?
I am one iPad supporter and I find it useful for the students, eg they brought it to their Australia trip recently. They were supposed to submit their reports and reviews the next morning even they touched down at 10pm.
It was then i noticed that almost all the work were already done instantly on iPad while they were overseas. Pages and pages of reviews were all neatly done and properly organized in the gadget. It allows easy retrieval and amendment to be done easily if required. Adding researched information is easy. It also helps in their project work and information sharing.
I have not seen any negative impact yet, at least for DD.
Btw, the RV students have again done Singapore proud. They are the champion for junior youth physics tournament JYPT 2012 held in Tasmania last month...

Can someone tell me... if currently the child in p6 does not take higher chinese and get about 80+ for chinese in primary, to go into RVHS, with higher chinese, will the child struggle?
I think what they meant was that a child ability can change drastically during transition from primary to secondary school. That means, primary school results, be it higher chinese or other subjects, cannot be taken fully as indication of secondary school performance. The key is to provide an opportunity for the child to learn and to perform and not shielding the child away from challenges base on flawed perception. -

Yes, exactly!Hello Daisyt, long time no \"chat\"...
When I get to forum, your dd was going year 2 & soon going year 5. How time flies...
Your dd is now year 3 right? Sorry, my memory is very bad.
Dd is going another round of subjects selection now,
Her batch is not in the ipad program...

Thanks, all… she is ok with chinese only. Not really like. But didn’t fare too good.
what i am afraid is if she goes RVHS, she gets kicked out of school cos of higher chinese. Struggling to see if NJC or RVHS is more suitable for her… NJC cutoff is much higher but further for her too… -
RVHS is a SAP school. Both languages (English n Mother Tongue) are taken as first language. In brief, language proficiency is a key point besides the right aptitude in other subjects (Maths, Science, Humanities, ...)
If your child is good in languages and overall sound foundation in the subjects, RVHS, NJC, HCI, RI ... makes not much of a difference less the competition to excel differs from institutions to institutions. Utmost importance, your kid loves learning and the challenges, not only you as parents, but as a \"team\", Cheers

When will the book list for next year be given?
