Secondary School Third Languages

Mine’s accepted for French. Dont forget registration at MOELC on 30th Dec.

I heard from one former teacher… in the MOE 3rd language center that the drop out rate is very high 50% every year… and the syllabus is tough. So both parent and child need to ‘gambette’ and perservere… if selected !

DS3 chose Jap but was offered Malay instead.
As VS is offering RSP, he has applied for the programme and take up B Indonesian instead. He hopes to be accepted as he will be doing it in school which is more convenient than going to the centre to study Malay.
Can anybody advise if he has made the right decision to give up Malay in favour of B Indonesian? :please: :please: -

My daughter chose French but was also rejected. Anyone knows how and where to appeal?

According fo the teacher's advice, we can appeal to MOELC ...

I wanted my boy to choose with Malay or B Indo. Think these two are easier to learn since we have readily access to Malay programme on TV and radio station. -
My daughter will be taking chinese as 3rd language (CSP) in sec 1. Anyone here who has a child currently doing the CSP ? How are the lessons conducted (i.e is it a fun based way) ?

Yes, its very true. Many form teachers would discourage 3rd lang because it is taking into the GPA calculations of the year end final. -

Hi,
My son will be taking CSP (Chinese special Progranme) as his 3rd language this year.
Anybody has tips on how I can assist my child to do well in this subject, apart from sending him to tuition class?
We are a non-chinese/mandarin speaking family.
Appreciate any input from parents or current students.
Thanks.
