Hi Tianzhu,Hi fohope
Basing on the original question, you still can get an answer, but it'll not be in nice whole numbers.
(3P+4) + ((3P+4) + 3P ---- 43
The answers will be in decimals.
Best wishes
The teacher printed the wrong number in the question. It should be 44 instead of 43.
Thanks. -

Hi
Hi Tianzhu,
The teacher printed the wrong number in the question. It should be 44 instead of 43.
Thanks.
Then, the answer will be in whole numbers.
(3P+4) + ((3P+4) + 3P ---- 44
9P ------ 36
P ------ 4
Cost per pen ----- 4
Cost per book ------ 16

I think the question should be 48 more girls. If so the ans is 112 pupils. Is the answer correct?Need help trying to understand what the question is asking for:

5u = girls
2u = boys
5u-2u = 48
1u = 48/3 = 16
16*7 = 112 -
HAPPYH:
That is correct. Should be \"48 more\" girls.

Same working I had. However, I am having difficulty understanding the question. Why do they add \"more\" instead of asking \"What is the total number of students seated in the auditorium?\". -
There were 180 blue and red marbles in Box A.There were 320 green and red marbles in Box B.There are thrice as many red marbles as blue marbles, and the number of green marbles in both bags is the same.Find the total number of green marbles in both bags.
Ken is 9 years old.His sister is 13 years old and his father is 23 years older than him.How old will Ken's sister be when Ken is half his father's age?
Can someone help solve this two questions?
:?: Thank you!! : :please: -
poppet, you are in the wrong section. Go to http://www.kiasuparents.com/kiasu/forum/viewforum.php?f=27
there are many similar examples as the ones you posted with solutions. But I think these questions are more for P3, not P4, so look into the P3 thread as well. If it is for a P4 student, the student needs someone to go through the basic concepts with him/her asap. -

When ken was born, father was 14 :yikes:
Anyway, ken and father age diff is 14. we want to find out when will ken be half is father age, so we multiply 14 by 2. meaning when father 28 ken is 14.
ken is now 9, it will take 5 years to reach 14. sister is 13 now, so five year later , sister is 18. -

the age gap will be 23. therefore when son turns 23yrs old , father will be 46 and sister will be (+4) 27. :? -
my bad lol… yes sister will be (+14) 27
