May I know what type of toothpaste your kids are using? Currently my kids are using those children toothpastes with flavours. Just wonder whether it is actually good for them? Or should we give them adults toothpaste like colgate but without the mint of course. So what are your views?

Do you know any brand of toothpaste that could help ease toothache for a 5-year-old?
If your 5 year old is having toothache, better bring him/her to see a dentist. You don’t need to go to an expensive specialist pediatric dentist. I find that Unity Denticare has dentists who are trained in interacting patiently with kids. They will assure the kid and brief them through every step. Teach them how to brush properly and care for their own teeth. Parent is welcome to be in the same room for assurance.

Basically, I chose non-flouride as he is still young and sometimes swallow some of the toothpaste. Also, our water from tap already has added flouride, so there's no particular need for it.

At their age, they should not be getting any yellow stains if they brush twice a day. You might want to consider changing the brush if regular brushing does not seem to remove the stains.
My kids used First Teeth until they were about 4. The dentist told me to switch to Colgate for kids as they need flouride to protect their teeth.

Dentist told me I should have switched to a children’s toothpaste with fluoride when his baby teeth appeared. Before that, I should teach him to spit out first.

He’s using Aquafresh while 6 year old gal using Oral B for kids.

I thought he should have started already? My kids have used toothpaste since age of 1. So far, I have never met any dentist who say don't use toothpaste.

 Make sure that it doesn’t contain sodium lauryl sulfate (SLS) because it causes canker sores.

However, adult toothpaste is not recommended as it contains too much fluoride which may cause white spots on teeth. I think my kids didn't use any toothpaste before the age of 3. But since they rarely eat sweets, their teeth are still pretty ok. Now my 4 yo DS is using non-fluoride and DD is using the non-fluoride in the morning and fluoride for kids before bed.

Just to share. My dd is finally using the flouride toothpaste ( colgate brand) to brush her teeth. Initially she was not used to it, but now she can take the \"hot\" feeling in her mouth already. But my ds still refuse to change to flouride toothpaste 😢 . I guess I will try to persuade him again. Anyway, thanks everyone for your contributions to this thread. Without your contributions, I won't know that flouride toothpaste is infact much more better than non-flouride one in terms of the cleaniless. 😄
