They serve as checkpoints to determine banding next year (in P5), as was explained to the class. We are already banded in P4, but there can still be further tweaks - for instance offering 普华 (~a third of cohort by P6) options to some, or transferring those who are not coping well out of the higher ability groupings. Perhaps the school will communicate more details at a later date, I’m not sure</p>

Our school, last year’s Sec 3 had a SC topic removed; this year when the topic was tested in a Sec 4 assessment, the cohort did soo badly that they had to add marks for everyone in order for them to pass. Teacher warned that if even 1 student had had scored well enough, such that additional marks could not be added, the cohort would have had many failures…</p>

However, if they go back to putting everything in PSLE Math/Science next year, there's just more stuff to test in P6 SA1.  And I'm not sure if testing when you didn't teach it is going to lead to any better outcomes.  I.e. teach it and test it now, at least people will be paying attention if they get stuff wrong. And, Conductors of Heat will not be tested, though it is Not stated as \"removed\", so I'm not sure what it means<br /><br />P4 English, the extra time freed up (perhaps?) is used for project work -  group presentation of an endangered animal (using Google slides etcetera), group creation of a kinetic energy powered mobile. I.e. no exam two days in a row (or something like that) would mean the exam period extends forever. I think that extended stress is worse! This stretch is a bit longer than last year's PSLE so don't really know what to expect.  Suggested to the kid to be well prepared before the test start and each day when back home eat, rest, look over a few key concepts or known difficult areas (for him) but don't expect to cram. MOE said will reduce the scope of the exams - which i take to mean the tested content/topics will be reduced. That’s what they did in 2020 too.<br /><br /><br />MOE did not say will deviate from the norm of scheduling multiple papers on the same day.<br /><br />(Btw, have any of your schools informed your kids of which topics will be cut from the FYE? Mine hasn’t…so i will have to assume just revise everything!)</p>
