And this happens because the feet are too close to the inside of the step.  Shoes like crocs are made of rubber, so it’s easier for a step to grip them and pull them in.  (Gosh - do you understand what I’m saying?)<br /><br /><br />But anyway - I think parental supervision is the most important.  No playing/ jumping/dancing or whatever on the escalator, always stand in the center of the step and hold hands.</p>

I notice that most of these accidents usually occur at the very top or the very bottom of the escalator. <br /><br />What parents should do is to to be alert and make sure that the child hops off quickly the moment they reach the top or bottom of the escalator.  The rubber of Crocs sandals is also soft which makes it even easier for it to be sucked in by the escalator.<br /><br />Standing in the middle of the step or within the yellow line does not help much, in my opinion. Ever saw that befor. So it’s true that it’s good to hold on to the railing.<br /><br /><br />Eg. heard on class 95 this am that FD is trying to call out for a national campaign on escalator usage while Glenn Ong felt a regular announcement is good enough to remind the users.</p>

All shopping mall escalators are standardized speeds. Even long ones. Some time ago, an incident happened at one of the Mrt escalators; a very pregnant lady tripped and fell down the escalator. She was holding onto the railing. Extremely Lucky, she was saved by the people infront. And I mean very lucky because there were only 3 people infront o her and the second one managed to catch her. She suffered some bleeding but baby was okay.
