We were there for a full week from 9th to 15th Nov, weather is super hot. Just like to drop a note to share with those who will be going.

It was a great holiday, my 7 year old boy and 6 year old girl had a good time. Their favourite was the 1 day of elephant camp with Ran Tong. They get to feed, ride and bathe our elephant for the day. I love the long neck tribe.

Some of the must go:
(1) Ran Tong elephant camp
(2) Sunday market
(3) Chiangrai day trip with local tour
- hot spring (to soak feet only; but was fun for the kids and they get to cook egg)
- Wat Rong Khun (White temple); beautiful must visit in Chiangrai
- Karen long neck tribe
(4) 3D Art Museum
(5) Bo Sang Handicraft Village - nothing much. But the artist drew on their jeans and they love it!

We didn’t get to wear the sweater we bought except for our visit to Doi Inthanon National Park (nothing much there, just the highest mountain in Thailand).

Don’t need airport transfer, jus hail down their red songtheaw (THB20 per person) so cheap. And the driver will helps with the luggage, so we will top up the fare.

Overall, Chiangmai is a beautiful country with nice people. Safe to travel late at night with kids.

Have fun!

You can hail them anywhere and they operate within the city area. They don't operate very fixed routes, and they will pick up other passengers along the way, so be prepared to share and that the route may not be the most direct. But CM is so small that it usually doesn't make much difference. If you want to go to nearby areas outside CM, there are yellow song teaws but you have to go to specific spots to get them, I think. You will need to know how to say where you want to go, or preferably have a card or brochure to show the drivers as they don't speak much/any English. Also be prepared to use sign language to negotiate the prices, or learn a few numbers in Thai. It's quite fun!

Most trips within the central city area should be around 20 baht per person (as of about 3 yrs ago) but they often quote for the whole family. Some may charge less for younger kids and some may try to rip you off. If you are going further, they will charge more.
