<![CDATA[* Anderson Serangoon JC (ASRJC)]]>My kid is getting a raw score of 13 with 1 bonus point and staying at woodland. He was telling me his choice are limited to SRJC, YJC, IJC & PJC, JJC and TPJC. Out of all the 6, IJC is the nearest follow by YJC and both cop is 20.


He went to JJC yesterday but didnt like the sch and thinking of PJC with cop of 16. However, now he was thinking to go to SRJC as the cop is exactly 13 and from what we see, the cop was getting lower and lower over the recent years. Can see from here JC Cut Off http://www.squidoo.com/jc-cut-off

So do you guys think SRJC is getting better and is an ideal choice for him despite the travelling distance.

By the way, how come some JC cop is constant whereas SRJC is getting so much lower over the past few years and getting close to CJC.

saw this ST's report below fr last year. so those students who enter JC/MI in 2024 will be the 1st batch affected by this new rank point?
From 2026, students from junior colleges (JCs) and Millennia Institute (MI) will not need to count their fourth content-based subject in their university admissions, unless it improves their score

so seems its no point taking a 4th H2/H1 and student may spend less effort on mother tongue and pw?

even if u were to take 4 H2 subjects,

local Universities will only look at your best 3 subjects, to compute your RP.

There is no advantage in taking 4 H2s when it comes to the rank score for university - but it may be an advantage when it comes to the overall profile of the student and/or something to talk about at interview.

We just came from the Open House. The recommendation is to take 3 H2 and 1H1. The Principal doesn't recommend taking 4 H2s unless the student really has a deep interest in the 4th subject. He feels it is better to have time to do other things outside of school work, which is also important for university entry. To take 4 H2, the guidance is raw score of 10 or better, minimum B3 for English and A1/A2 at O level for the relevant subjects.

They have 150 subject combinations, so most possibilities are covered and they said that it is very rare for a student bot to get their first choice.

He ended up in ASRJC and did decently well for A levels. Will be doing his double degree in SMU.

Some comments which you probably need to verify that we hear about SAjC historically is the retention rate. My dd had peers who went to SAJC from a “good” secondary school. Heard some got retain and some didn’t do well during A levels to have decent uni options. But again, might be one off scenarios.

ASRJC seems to be mugging culture based on the way ds described.

Yes! Good news to those students in Northeast - Hougang, Paya Lebar, Serangoon, Sengkang, Punggol. ASRJC is an additional JC to consider.

Multiple bus services such as bus number 80, 81, 82, 101, 107, 112, 113, 136 and 153 to take from Kovan MRT station to the JC , which is 2 bus stops away. Kovan MRT station is 1 train station away from Serangoon MRT station.

ASRJC will relocate to 1033 Upper Serangoon Road, Singapore 534768, from January 2024 to December 2027 (tentative), as the current campus will be undergoing upgrading.

I foresee students who can’t get into NYJC or SAJC will enter ASRJC. Be prepared for cut off point to decrease due to demand.

N level combine science are for students willing to take the poly route. If you want to take double H2 science, you have to study until secondary 5 in order to get certified O level combine science.
