Yesterday I received a SMS from CPF Board asking me to click the link related to ElderShield termination.

I took a snapshot of the SMS and sent to DH asking him whether I should click on the link provided. Immediately DH said likely to be a scam.

This morning, CPF Board issued a statement that the SMS campaign is legitimate. DH said it’s silly of them to send SMS with URL. He thought after the OCBC scam, there were very clear directions not to send SMS with active URL link within.

If over the next few days, a scam CPF Board SMS starts circulating, whole Singapore will be conned.

I'm more like your husband - I don't like everything to be one device. My husband recently dropped his phone and it completely conked out. He had to immediately go to replace it as it's not possible to live life in Singapore without it! Luckily he also has a TT token otherwise he would have had difficulty getting into a mall to buy a phone, and he has actual plastic credit cards to use!

My husband and I try to do a half-measure - we do have several digital things and payment methods on our phones for convenience, but try to do that with only the essential or things we use very frequently. Otherwise, we try to have off-phone things as well.

Some years ago, when my FD matured and withdrew the money, the staff even asked why I withdrew instead of continuing the FD. I dislike it but still replied politely that I needed the money.

The banks have no right to ask what I do with my money though they may be kind bec they worried I might be giving it to some cheaters. We have read such reports in the papers.

Thanks for sharing. Just updated DH. Hope to debunk his ‘fears’. I want the convenience of not carrying an extra card if I can pack everything (CHAS, NTUC, Senior Passion card, Visa Cards, ...) into just my hp with alternative backup. I want to live life minimalist. 😅

I think ultimately, we will all be given a lifetime account when we are born, and we can download it into any new phones/devices we use, and the data is just stored in the cloud. It's just like our NRIC, but with tons of memory to track all our contacts, meetings, logins, etc. It won't happen in the next 30 years... but it will happen and people will just accept it as the norm.

I use digital tokens for many yrs n e wallet - Apple Pay . I find it secured! Face ID - who has our unique face ; earlier was finger print on the phone, which I prefer finger print to face actually.
One thing I dun feel safe is pay wave on atm / debit / credit card . That’s why I stick to Apple wallet on phone - other people cannot break into your Hp n use the e wallet n card stored .
My snr stick to only pure Nets payment card .we lost a pay wave atm card before , thank God noticed 2 days later n cancel it . I think lost in train station n no one used to pay wave it .. really lucky n thankful .Pay wave transaction can be up to $$500 to 1000 a day

Estee, use in spore means Sing $ - same process as normal credit card usage either local or overseas . Apple wallet is just a app to store our credit card with hp security features encoded . Can see transactions in Apple wallet , mobile banking or online bank website
