<![CDATA[Thinker Box - Discussion]]>Hi anyone,


recently read an article about Thinker Box in the home page. Anyone has any experience with their school? Apparently it is more of cognitive training method. They are relatively new in the market as they claimed that for the past 3 years, they have worked directly with 2 schools, Unity and red swastika. any parents with kids from that school? Any thoughts?

I sent my girl, end after forty sessions did not meet expectations. Initially, slight improvement on elder girl attention span but no breakthrough 2nd half. Still weak in her memory retention & attentive skills.



I sent my DS there but there isn’t any noticible improvement after 3 months. The instructor told me that their programme would not show improvement in short time span. I did not buy it. Eventually, I decided to stop because I feel if there is improvement it could also due to the maturity of the child and not solely on from the programme.

I am thinking of enrolling my gal who is 5yo to this class. Are the activities group based or mixed? Is it the place to gain confidence and some leadership qualities? Also considering Mind champs. How should I choose?

just pmed you some inform which would be useful to your DD. My younger DD used to be very careless but now she is very careful and would make conscious effort to check her work 🙂

For those who are keen to enrol their children in thinkersbox program, I will say that it is worth trying. My p4 gal has been in their program since april this year. While I have not seen significant improvement in behaviour or studying habits, I have to admit she seems to be able to concentrate better especially when it comes to comprehension. And in general, I am more of the chin chye type, thus I have never really paid too much attention to her studies.

Her maths tutor however feedback to me that she sees big improvement in the way my gal does her problem sums and is definitely more alert and sharper than before. And I think the good part is my gal enjoys going to the class and in fact was disappointed when I told her the program is only for a period of 10 months. She even asked me whether the program can be extended because she really loves the exercises that were conducted in the class. So, i do think that, as per all classes, it is really dependent on each individual child. I would have wanted to enrol my younger boy as well if not for the course fees which is about $2500.

I would suggest that u send your child to the free assessment first and you will be able to better judge if the program/school is suitable for your child. Will be happy to discuss if you hv a specific area of concern.

ive registered for their complimentary test.
I paid quite abit more than this in 2010/2011. Check with them in case they hv a new fee structure.

Unless they hv drop their fees, I think it costs a lot more than that. Try out their complimentary test so that u can judge if the program will be suitable for your child.

I just send my P2 boy for the 15min test last weekend. I am actually impress through the 3 areas of assessment, they are able to analyse the general situation of my boy in class. I have booked a time slot for other 8 areas.
Please share with me your boy's performance after with the centre for 2months.

Brought my son over the weekend for an analysis.

Did not highlight to them at all about my DS's strength and weakness prior.
Upon arrival, they did a 15-min 'test' to gauge his level of \"Visual memory\", \"Auditory Attention\" and one other test.

Thereafter, another teacher will sit through and explain to us the results while the same teacher who did the test on my DS carried on to 'play' blocks with him. When you confirm signing up, Thinkersbox will do an \"indepth test\" (about 60-75mins) for your kids.

The teacher will go through this result of the \"Indepth test\" during the first day of his lesson. All activities conducted here are based on the results. E.g. my son is weak in \"Auditory Attention\" - they will have materials / activities to help him in this area (from a video they showed me).

Hopefully, he will improve after the 10-months course.
Will post here to update all again after few months down the road.

There are few options on the payment:
i) you may pay monthly at $250 per month (10-months for 5-6yrs old programme);
ii) pay $2k upfront for the entire 10-months; 20% discount here;
iii) pay half-year or so and enjoy some discount (lesser than 20%, can’t remember exact).

Also, please note this is entirely to help our child on concentration, visual memory rentention. No school syllabus here.
