Amusing games! I hope one day I can join the RPG session. Lot of creative ideas from the kids. I have a social deduction games session (Secret Hilter) this afternoon and my role was changing from the Liberal and Facist in different rounds. My son is already 28 years old and no longer playing games. However, I hope other parents could let their kids try to participate in games playing where they can interact with others people.

Thanks for the kind words! Yes, tabletop games encourage a level of teamwork that you can't get from video games. The social interaction derived from face-to-face play makes the experience much more meaningful.

Just now, we had an RPG session with a group of older students. The kids were supposed to locate the main villain in his stronghold and take him out. They improvised by disguising themselves: one pretended to be a prisoner, the others pretended to be guards after stealing some uniforms. Under the pretense of escorting a prisoner, they entered the dungeon, started a prison riot by breaking the prisoners out, and initiated an uneasy alliance with one of the prisoners who claimed he could help the group take down the main villain.

None of that was scripted. The plan was mostly devised by the players; I just dropped some suggestions here and there.

We also run RPG sessions (similar to Dungeons & Dragons, but using a different set of rules) and a lot of prep time goes into them. Each class has a custom story that can take years to conclude.

Interesting....I have never played D & D before because it usually takes a few hours time but I believe there is lot of fun in playing especially with family members. From my experience in board games playing, the most important to learn are how to operate with others or team works to win the games and how to accept failure or losing a games. Thank you for introducing this workshop to us.

Yup it is likely a first in Singapore that something like that is done (a parenting workshop at a game store). Our therapy centre works closely with PI as they are our distributor for board games. We wanted to do an event that is related to both child development and tabletop games. Thus, we thought it'd be a novel idea for attendees, with the focus being on the overlap between those two areas.

So does your centre design your own boardgames for child development?
