By the way, I am not of the opinion that any primary/secondary kid should use tools like ChatGPT to generate writing for them. There are basics they should learn first.
I agree with this. Just like I believe kids should learn to write with pencil and paper before they type, or learn to walk before they dance!

But I would be interested to see how it works (will try it out one day when I have time) for writing articles, web posts etc. My impression is that the output can be rather bland, but maybe can be used as a starting point. My only concern is whether I can ask it to cite its sources so I can discern its reliability.

Those are just the mechanics of language, and I suppose it can learn how to do it - and perhaps customise the errors in the style of speakers of a specific language - Singlish, Chinese, French, etc. Anyway, as I've been browsing, here are a couple more interesting articles. Basically, other characteristics of humans are things like emotional intelligence, creativity, personal experiences, ethical views, etc. Not impossible to fake, but harder.
