But unless she's very talented, she will probably find it hard to catch up with others her own age who started at 5 or 6. I started learning ballet at age 11 (this was in the 70s!) and was in a class with kids much younger. I joined with a friend of the same age, so I had company. It looked really odd as we were both almost full-grown, and in a class of 6yo kids. We skipped a grade after the first year, but even so, we were always the oldest in the class. We learned for about 3+ yrs before we decided to stop. We don't regret it - it was fun, and it laid the groundwork for other kinds of dance. Later, at 17, we both started learning other types of dance - tap, jazz ballet, and more classical ballet, just for fun. My friend went on to be very involved in swing dancing, and more recently, Chinese dance! I got lazy and haven't done any dancing since about 19yo.</blockquote></blockquote>Wow that's nice!
