Yup different view. For me I usually do not have to pay for delivery as I will meet minimum for free delivery. I am one who will pay for convenience as well.

Of course if I have other errands to run at a shopping mall or am planning to go chill at some cafe or something, it makes sense to grab the groceries at the same time at the physical store.

Then again, like I say, I major fail at spending hacks or thrifting.

If for every discounted item at physical store, I know that I have to pay 30-50 cents more to buy online (discount at physical store but not online) and add on delivery charges and packing fees, I would have paid $8-$10 more for someone to deliver the items to my house? For my earlier example, I would have saved a few dollars for those BBQ items in my trolley and so my parking at the mall is “free”! I just don’t like a poor deal. 我又不是菜头

Btw, when I park at malls, its usually not just to go ntuc., I can enjoy ME TIME with a cup of coffee and breakfast at Toast Box, go Hock Hua, Four Leaves, Guardian etc.

It makes sense to pop in and buy if you have the physical store within walking distance of your home or work place and you only need a few items.

I buy from ntuc online to make use of their delivery once a month. One shot deliver 40 rolls of toilet papers, 20kg of washing detergent and other heavy/bulky items. The rest of the items in my online cart, 9 out of 10 items must be on offer before I put them into my online cart.

I have come across Korean instant noodle on offer online and I showed the offer to a store staff, staff told me the offer was only avail online. I have monitored ntuc for a while, an estimated 80% of all the items on offer can only be found at physical store, while 20% can only be found online. This is what I observed for ntuc, not sure whether this is applicable for other retail groups.

Went NTUC today. Need to buy and prepare for an upcoming BBQ party.

Out of curiosity, some BBQ items i put into my trolley, there are discounts at physical stores but not in the online stores.

I bought for BBQ party:

1) Frozen Chicken Wingsticks 1kg Seara brand
Physical store $3.35
Online store $4.80

2). Taiwan sausages Golden Bridge brand
Physical store $3.30
Online store $3.55

3). Lee Kum Kee Char Siew Sauce
Physical store $3.75

For few BBQ items inside the trolley, I already saved a fair bit if I were to buy from physical instead of from the online store !!

Recently I found out that there is a difference between buying off the shelves in the physical store and ordering online from NTUC.

3-in-1 coffee of brand X is selling 2 for $11.95 in the store now but if one checks online, the same offer cannot be found and one needs to pay the original pricing of $6.20 per pack.

So take note that not every item we see on discount in NTUC physical store, will be selling at a discounted price on its online store.

Buy bread from neighborhood bakery instead of supermarket/bakery in malls. Less softdrinks. Water cheaper and healthier.
