I’m all for keeping our Singapore brand of English alive, but I hope all students can also switch to standard English that can be understood internationally when necessary. Singapore is too small to expect others to adapt to us (as the main English-speaking nations do).</p>

Compared to my time, their English is far better than in the 60s. Ultimately, language is for communication and easy understanding.
