At some point, you can also have them write a bit at home.  It can be as simple as describing what they did the past week, what was interesting, etc.<br /><br /><br />Kids tend to take cues from parents as to what is important.  If the parent makes time for the activities/the child, there is a reasonable chance it will catch on.<br /><br />You can worry about the exam driven stuff later.</p>
