My dentist is advising me to do a bridge, however, I am much more prefer an implant. The only concern is whether it is painful for putting the metal root into the tooth bed and the among of blood loss during the surgery? Any advice, please[/quote]
Well, be careful with implants because once you decide, it's kind of permanent and you can't fit dentures over them without pulling out the implant. I've had implants when I was in my twenties and now, I think 30% of my teeth are implants. So have to keep making implants. My last attempt at an implant was 3 months ago, but I had to stop the procedure as they were drilling too close to my sinus and I could feel my sinus being impacted (I have had some major problems when I had my upper wisdom teeth removed that left holes between my sinus and my mouth so my sinus was flowing out directly into my mouth :faint:, and it requires some surgery to close up the holes. ) Anyway, I'm now walking around with a missing back tooth, which surprisingly, I don't really miss :xedfingers: .

ChiefKiasu

Reply to Braces - Private or Public Hospital on Mon, 25 Mar 2024 08:23:35 GMT

Since talking about dental surgery, my dentist has temporary fixed back my crown to my broken teeth but we foresee it will fall off soon. Have to take mrt about 8 stations and then walk quite a bit. When I was referred there for a emergency root canal, I had to pay like $300 for an all round x-ray and then wait for a dentist to be referred to me. I got pissed and just went to the neighborhood dentist to get it done within a week. That neighborhood dental clinic was just 200m away from my home.

I used to frequent a dentist who would send me off to various specialists for my root canals and implants. She would just do the easiest part, ie. make the false teeth for the implants. Come to think of it, my greatest regret is that I stuck with her for nearly 20 years. :skeptical:

ChiefKiasu

Reply to Braces - Private or Public Hospital on Sat, 23 Mar 2024 14:01:20 GMT

Hi,

May I know what bad experience with pricing you had with NDC?

I've had a bad experience with pricing at the NDC and I'm sticking to a local dentist near my place. As for NDC (National Dental Centre), it’s a reputable place, but prices might have changed over the years. Your son got his braces for $2.3K, which sounds pretty reasonable considering it was six years back. Since you’re considering convenience too, checking out private dentists nearby sounds like a good plan. In the SengKang/Punggol area, you might want to ask around for recommendations from neighbors or check online reviews to find a dentist that suits your daughter’s needs. Good luck with everything, and I hope your daughter gets a smile she’s happy with!
