Need to apply the appropriate 成语 in the right context. Seem quite tough.

Any 成语 books to recommend that are easy to digest for primary level? Ideally with hanyu pinyin or English explanations

(suggest you use 成语故事大全 to search via baidu). there are many....

The best way to teach is for parents to use it in real life 😉


For example, when my girl likes something, she will hold it in her hands all day long, even when she has to go to the toilet. I tell her this is 爱不释手 !

In order to remind myself to use 成语, I used to stick many 成语 on the walls 😉
yes, my hubby also tries to teach ds 成语 in real life....quite fun actually. parents also brush up and learn....

should be morning time after 9am. (host by 郭亮) forget whether it is Saturday or Sunday.

My ds loves to watch this program though he might not understand but he just feels fun....if he feels fun then i explain bit by bit....

It will not internalise.


I have this book ‘成语我ok’, about the size of an A5 exercise book. I got it at a book fair at my kid’s school, so I’m not sure if Popular has it. It contains 4-word proverbs, explained by the use of Chinese comics. When it is not possible to explain the origin, the comics would be about how to use it.

I thought it quite a simple read.
