My child is in N2 in another school and I was thinking of transferring her to Catholic Kindergarten. I have heard many good things about this kindy but I also read a few recent comments about the school that are less than positive.

Thus, I was wondering if anyone can share your feedback about the school? My concern is high turnover of Teachers in my child’s current school. Is this a problem that Catholic Kindy has as well? Also, how do Teachers and principal act on feedback from parents?

i have asked the principle some question and below are the replies

Question : what is the construction progress of premises at flower road
1) The construction will begin in March 2015. ( i think it is a typo should be march 2016)

Will the 2017 class be at flower road or temp location
2) Classes will be in Maris Stella High School in 2017.

when are you guys expected to return to the flower road premise
3) We intend to move in mid of 2017 if everything goes well.

how to register if can’t make it during the registration exercise during march school holiday
4) You would get someone to register on behalf of you ( Grandparents, aunties)

The move is for renovation, or so that’s what we’ve been told.

High teacher turnover - well, they have a few who are loyal and won’t move. Mostly older ones. The younger ones aren’t given adequate guidance on how to handle the kids, so I guess they get frustrated too. They are assessed end of the school year and get assigned to which class the principal thinks is suitable. So, if you’ve heard of a particular teacher and want her, you may not get her…

I agree w the other review above - the children are not given fair assessment regarding abilities. The principal seems to only be concerned on academic value and not development of good character and morals. Kids who are mostly mean can and are given model student awards just because they do their work well. I think that is giving the wrong impression to other well-behaved children. Shouldn't a model student be well-rounded and be chosen by the class teacher? Class bully problem not addressed and parents not counseled adequately. I hear the bully was given 'social isolation' for a week in class ie not allowed to interact with other children for a week following an incident (how does that teach anything?) No calling up of parents for apology etc. School activities involving parents also cramped towards end of the year making it difficult for parents to take leave week after week at short notice. If you drive your kid to school, good luck. No staggering between school times or activities like Sports Day means traffic congestion and unhappy residents surrounding the school.

Disappointed in the management. So disappointed as I had such high expectations of the school. My kid loves her class teacher and her Chinese teacher. But the management spoiled everything. :sad:
I wouldn't start q-ing for a place in this school @ 3am knowing this. Apply only if you know your child is a model student and you can walk to school.

the thing i notice about the school is the teacher turn over is very high ..and based on the grapevine a lot of good teachers have left .. And the current teacher not sure what they do to my mischievous kid to the extent that he not keen to go school .. Never had such issue in the past

and next year they are moving to new premise which cause a lot of inconvenience to existing students .and if you heard the grapevine story .. the reason for moving so far is money motivated ..that is so :sad: ..and am now thinking given the quality of the teaching there do i still wan to register my daughter next year :sad:

But I got 2 incidents when I feedback on my kid behavioural issue due to a classmate. Their first reaction is always try to highlight in areas where my kid is not correct and not true. Yes, I understand that words from a kid is not 100 % true. As a parent, i also need to assess the things my kid told me with teacher. Wish the teachers can work more closely with parents instead of trying to brush it off due to lack of evidence.

We’re staying in punggol n my gal is in K1. Been taking the sch bus since last year. Btw i replied an email reply fm e sch tt they’ll discuss this issue during the orientation, tt they may consider adjusting the sch hours as some children are staying are staying further away, like sengkang and punggol.

Hope it turns out well. Was also wondering if they’ll increase the bus fare??? Sigh…

The sch bus shdnt b a prob. My child also started there in nursery.

It wld b great if the sch can chg e location. If not, they shd consider adjusting the time; mayb helpful if they start at 8.30am instead?

I enrolled my daugther also in that School for next school year 2015 for Nursery. Received the letter re Bldg construction and that they planning to move to Bartley Rd. Orientation will be this coming Oct 11. Do you think we can suggest to the Principal to reconsider the location and move somewhere within the area.
We stay in Sengkang and Bartley is way too far. I am worried that School bus is not safe too. She's too young for school bus. 😞

Me too. I wasn’t inform of the shift when i registered in April. I have paid the deposit already. If I withdraw, its not refundable.

The orientation is on 11 Oct, still contemplating if I should proceed.

Anyone knows how the environment at Marist Stella High School is like? I like the open space at Flower road compound. Hopefully the temp space is also gv them the big space for learning and play.

Is your child a current student there? So for the 8am session, pick up at punggol area is 650am? that’s v v early! I m staying in punggol too.
