For medicine, the general requirement is a health science related diploma. However, you will need to check the respective universities for their exact requirements. For eg, this is NUS list of acceptable Diplomas from a local Polytechnic or institution in Singapore for its undergraduate courses: https://www.nus.edu.sg/oam/apply-to-nus/polytechnic-diploma-from-singapore/subject-pre-requisites
Do note that for the poly route, an important consideration for NUS medicine admission is the portfolio. ie he can’t be a mugger for grades only - he will need to be involved in CCA, or in the community, etc.

TBH I wouldn’t fret about the 15 or 17 points if his dream is to be a doctor. The pre-requisites to becoming a doctor isn’t good grades, it’s about having the financial resources 😉 Once you have that, the options and routes to becoming a doctor are numerous for you are not longer limited to Singapore universities.
Agree with floppy. Another consideration - he should also look into the reason for his score - was he dragged down by language(s) and humanities? Are his Maths and Science subjects strong? If so, then doing well in a science diploma course, plus all the \"extras\" will stand him in good stead. If his sciences are weak, then would he survive the long road to becoming a doctor? Then maybe he should cast his aspirations wider. Just some thoughts.

Believe in the young chap. Encourage them to shoot for their dreams. Nothing shld be impossible if they make extra effort & still balance their life to enjoy the learning process.

There was a young chap who achieved the dream to study medicine. May not be the traditional route but possible. Everything is possible for the next 4-6 years with determination & good learning skills.

I think they will probably schedule in a manner similar to PSLE oral where students from the 2 sessions will not get to interact/leak out info.

HCL Oral

In the past, up to last year 2022, all pu-hua (Chinese Oral) topics, fall on different, separate days.

for pu-hua (Oral),
starting wef 2023 : from July (6 to 14),

these days' Oral for different session(s)
in the morning vs. Afternoon assigned time slot,

will the Oral topics
be the same or different, within the same identical day ?

To me, I guess ought to be different Oral topics,
because

even though fall within the same day, but those students who have already completed (finished) their morning Oral earlier will be released by invigilators, to go back home to rest. Hence, there cannot be leakage of the Oral topic,
to those students who have yet to sit for Oral, in the Afternoon session, falling within the same day.
