I hv a DD in P1 looking to enroll her in the above martial art.

Anyone keen cos we can approach Safra Toa Payoh if we can get enough headacount to push them to start another class for children?

My 14yo does Wing Chun at some private estate. I'm not sure how he got the contact, but he and 2 or 3 classmates go for the same class. My ds has black belt in Karate already though, so we just let him go have some fun lah. Seems like the payment system quite flexi too, bc he told them he can only go 3x/mth.

New Wing Chun Class specifically for Children age between 6 to 13 years old, at Tessensohn Civil Service Club starting Saturday 3rd of July 2010. See details below:-

Day: Every Saturday (starting 3rd July 2010)

Time: 9 am to 10 am

Venue: Level 2, Aerobic Studio, Civil Service Club,

60 Tessensohn Road, Singapore 217 664.

Cost S$30 per month

Age Group: 6 to 13 years old

Trainer: Sifu Ken Lau

me takg up wing chuen is like asking a pig to take part in Ironman competition.

prior to yr suggestion, i did brought it up to my DH & he said that both of us LIAO KOK KOK, wait will become regulars at A&E if we did go & learn it.

we are in fact signing up for Hatha Yoga & perhaps Taichi-Chuen.

Changcheun also tough yet look elegant, great for kids with long hands long legs, also can go for competition if they are good πŸ™‚ Can use as DSA when in P6.


Why don't you and your DH take up wingchgun first if the kiddy class takes sometime? In Singapore, not easy to get a wingchun sifu that's of direct lineage. Your DD can observe your lessons and may pick up the skills too.

Anyway, pls keep us posted on the wingchun children's class. My 13-yo boy has always wanted to learn, may let him join in if time permits.

The initial training could be quite boring for a kid.


Sry, not trying to be wet-blanket but I was also trained in wingchun, direct lineage from Ipman, not Ipchun though. What you see on Ipman movie (how he teaches the factory workers) is actually how it looks like in real life training.

As my DH have learn similar form of martial art, he felt that it was good to send our DD to learn this form due to her size.

Sifu Ken Lau said that if we hv 10 to 15 interested participants, we can approach Safra TP to start a class for kids.

auntieM, tks for the recommendation but it appears that they do not teach Wing Chun.
