Just want the younger generation to do well!

English: I am no english expert but some tips from Cheif Kiasu!

Instead of worrying about how you need to improve your English, why not just enjoy yourself reading the Straits Times and stories that you enjoy, and imagine yourself to be the editor? How would YOU have written those articles? After reading each article and think about how YOU can summarize the entire article in a one short paragraph, capturing the essence of the article.

If you do this religiously for 21 days, one article a day, I will guarantee you will start being able to do it unconsciously in under 5 mins per article. Continue for another 21 days and it will become an unconscious habit you can do in your mind. Continue for another 21 days and you will be able to handle any comprehension or essay writing thrown at you.

he was like scolding me

Math: one word PRACTISE! Practise makes perfect. Only thing do do for math. Try this book called the CHALLENGING MATHS PROBLEMS MADE EASY b Ammiel Wan Chee Hong. I personally recommend it!

Mother tongue: Not sure... i do nothing...

Science: Most ppl do very badly for science. But it is one of the easiest subjects. Watch science channels like Discovery , History and National Geographic channels. Also read alot of science books. I have one whole bookshelf of books just for science. But dont go pester your mother and fathers to buy for you guys then they come after me. Use what you have.
Instead of buying the science books for your level buy Primary Six ones. It has most of the science facts for the topic. I bought the PSLE Science Revision guide when i was P2. Th PSLE Science Revision guide is quite a good book , so a book i would adivice to buy regardless of what level.

Well thats all folks this is what i am currently doing for my PSLE prep. How it helps! If you guys want you may add on as comments especially for mt

Reply to Tips for improving in PSLE on Sat, 31 Jul 2010 02:23:36 GMT

livewith_vanilla:

MOE Hater:
     THIS THREAD IS DYING DOWN!!!

Then let's bring it back alive. :))
No need to cry though.

You are a p6 student or secondary student ?

Anyway, finished Prelims oral, experience in words: Torturous.

Anyone taken their Prelims already ? I am taking the PSLE this year too. would like 2 share wat i'm doing 4 my revision 4 MT(chinese). wat i usually do is tat i read the shou ce (bought it from popular) which cover all the words tat we are supposed to know how to read and how to write. they also provide meaning 4 all the words.

it's ok if u don't buy it. the chinese textbook also cover wat words we should know how to read and write, at the back, but it will not have the meanings. By doing this, i have already finish revising 1 component of the whole paper.

4 the rest of the components, i buy component practises to do. or, every chinese practice paper the school give, u can try the questions again.

i tried this method (which i found out myself) last year, and it worked! In P4 i was very depressed with my marks, got below 50/100. So i decided 2 work harder. and the marks i got 4 SA1 this year was 84.5/100! even my teacher was impressed.

hope this tip helps. good luck in your PSLE!

Wow! I gather from your previous post you are sitting for PSLE this year too. I got a B for Science and am using the June holidays to buck up. Don't woorry, I am sure you can pull up your overall marks out of 300 by up to 20 or 30 points by just revising during the holidays. If it is math's you are weak in, do try the book ruyu reccommended. If you are good in Math, the afore mentioned book will also help you stop relying less on algebra, if that is what you are doing now. You can also try doing Math Olympiad books as maybe some techniques you learn can be use in PSLE.
