I could not believe my eyes one nite on my way home from airport, well past 1am, the workers were still opening the road-kerb drain covers to dig for debris and pile and pile of dried leaves and what not in black trash bags were lining up along the whole stretch of road ..... looks like kind of emergency operation through the nite to clear the drain before any heavy downpour ....


That makes me suspect that my suspicion about the cause of flash flood is right...simply due to lack of maintenance and upkeep

once in 50 years they forgot about the maintenance and upkeep ......
I hv witnessed a road sweeper (foreign worker) in our BP estate sweeping whatever rubbish into drains. It wouldn't come as a surprise clogged drains are part of their doing.

Yeah Shenton way more on Tanjong pagar side... maybe now Raffles Place :shock:
Heard that Shenton and Raffles Place had super bad jam earlier due to the heavy rains and some parts were a bit flooded. My friend's house in siglap also got flooded, 3rd time in a few months!

I don't like it.
Where we live on Thomson/Upper Thomson Road, some of the old trees now look so bare and sad. It used to be a very nice drive with a very lush view 😞

Mr Tan Gee Paw, PUB chairman was the sole recipient
of the highest National Day award (DARJAH UTAMA BAKTI CEMERLANG)
this year and was headlined in ST.
IMHO, the timing and headlining of this award broadcast
a msg dat PUB is faultless in its job execution.

Why after ascribing the floods to a choked culvert,
unexpected heavy rains, freak 50 year occurrence, Typhoon Conson etc,
and the explanations being turned on its head by repeated floods,
is there silence from the Ministry?
Dis gahmen n civil service have always prided themselves
on planning ahead. Wat gives now?
If it is a temporary situation dat will pass, why not just say so?
If there is miscalculation in urban planning, why not say so
n let d ppl know when d infrastructure will be up?
