Her reply was she saw a difficult old lady and the parents continued to take care of her. She thought the young lady with the fever boy was another family...... Lucky I saw and explained to her...

Do you think this advert has failed by being abit complicated or my child is just an exception.

I found the Yasmin's ones more succint in its messaging than this one.

The ending was unexpected. I was half expecting her dad to be dying or something. Instead it turned out to be a commerial ad. But a very good one indeed :celebrate:

I was in my room when I heard a lady singing the song. When I walked out from the room, my hubby told me about the ad. is very touching. He tried to explain but I just can't figure out what is the ad.

Next day, I managed to watch it. At 1st I was abit confused :? about it. Just like a puzzle need to rearrange(mb I'm abit slow lah). So, finally I see the picture liao.....:oops: :lol:

I heard of this adver from a m'sia colleague but this is the first time watching it. Very straight to the point. Thanks for sharing. I think the message they trying to convey is the more successful the kids are, the lesser time they will have have for their parents. Even I'm not that successful (as compare to the adver) but I do find it hard to squeeze time for my parent.

But when analysed further the gov will have a big headache if our children don’t take care of us when we get old especially we were from the baby boom period. Every parents will be supported only by an avg of 1.2-1.5 child. Even they only show 1 child in the adver.

Well, it depends on the their objective. If they are looking to move people into being more aware of their relationship with their parents, I believe, based on the response from the general public, it is successful.

The ad is afterall only a few minutes, it cannot show everything and cannot flesh out each character. So it is up to the viewers to fill in the gaps.

As a start of a propaganda to promote filial piety, this ad sure got the ball rolling.

Just clicked on the link to watch it just now.


I guess how one interpret the ad depends on one’s experience. To a wife/DIL/Mother who is experiencing a rough time with her MIL she will see it as the man in the ad as being useless for not comforting the wife or not standing up to the mum for being difficult. To a son/husband/father, they will say 'see so difficult being sandwiched in between.

Me when I see the ad, I want to cuff the boy over his head for being so self centred.

I told my dd, the grandma only trying to be difficult so the son will send her away. She thinks she is a burden to her son knowing she is sick so she is finding a way to get away, to stay with her sis instead. I find old folks usually like to stay w children so suggesting to stay with sis sounds fishy to me lor, like she is running away from something. The grandson just sees all the surface behaviours of the grandma n frowns.

But lucky the son trusted his own instinct of his mother's love. Each time I watch this advert I will shed tears, even when writing this. I am very sure the old gen folks are very capable of showing consideration to their children so I find it even more touching. So I use this advert to explain to my dd that not only look at surface things grandma does, her love is deeper than she knows.

Am I reading too much???

That is why I find this advert cheek for kids lor....

But I think this adver is targetting more to teenagers like 13-19 yrs old. This group should be able to understand completely. But how effective in converying the message across is everyone’s guess.

Actually the DIL in the ad is seen as frustrated, but 无 耐.

Very few things on earth is more influential than a woman's tears. A aged mother's tears is certainly equally powerful. Very dilemma leh, for the man. But I feel that he should not go all out to please his mum, at the expense of wifey (the part on the dinner). But maybe when it's my turn to have my own DIL, I'll naturally think differently then :evil:
